GENERAL SUMMARY: Junior Engineer with 1-5 years of experience. Experience may have been obtained during college coursework.

LOCATION: Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock, West Bethesda, MD.

Must have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret level security clearance. US Citizenship is a prerequisite.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform hands-on polymer materials engineering in support of the US Navy.
Work side-by-side with other engineers and technician personnel developing, testing, and integrating advanced polymer materials.
Develop new non-metallic materials for specific mission requirements and develop or manage processing technologies that will be used to produce components for Navy systems.
Work with analytical equipment to develop and characterize advanced polymeric materials and adhesives.
The selectee may also be involved in the development of next-generation composites, bearings, acoustic materials, polymeric batteries, and electromagnetic materials.

EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS:

BS Engineering Required (Polymer Science and Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Chemical Engineering preferred)
Undergraduate laboratory research experience required.
Must have a demonstrated interest in hands-on work through laboratory research or work experience.
Demonstrated leadership traits through task supervision or social/athletic group membership.
