Job Description

The Director of Insurance Sales will lead strategic sales efforts while overseeing the performance and development of the sales team. This position combines individual production responsibilities with organizational leadership, including strategic planning, performance management, and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. The role also includes building strong relationships with clients, carriers, and partners to enhance sales, retention, and client satisfaction.

Strategic Sales Leadership (30%)
- Set and achieve short- and long-term sales goals (monthly, quarterly, annual) for the team and organization.
- Develop and implement strategies for new business growth, cross-selling opportunities, and improved retention rates.
- Drive the creation and implementation of sales forecasting and goal-setting processes (1-year and 5-year plans).
Team Development and Management (25%)
- Recruit, train, mentor, and manage sales advisors to foster a high-performing, motivated team.
- Oversee staff development through personalized coaching, group training sessions, and specialized workshops.
- Collaborate with the sales support team to build a cohesive and winning team atmosphere.
- Encourage a culture where advisors act as caring financial partners to clients, promoting hope and well-being.
Individual Production (15%)
- Actively prospect, propose and bind new commercial insurance accounts.
- Serve as a trusted advisor for commercial and personal lines clients, leveraging a consultative approach to meet their unique needs.
Operational Oversight (10%)
- Establish and refine processes, policies, and compliance measures to optimize team operations.
- Manage PTO, agency standards, and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Ensure the effective use of sales tools, CRM systems, and analytics for data-driven decision-making.
Revenue and Client Relationship Management (10%)
- Manage high-value accounts and oversee complex negotiations.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with carriers, partners, and clients to support business growth.
- Engage in community involvement to promote agency visibility and trust.
Partnership Engagement (5%)
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align insurance sales with broader organizational initiatives.
Budget and Financial Planning (5%)
- Participate in developing and managing the annual sales budget, aligning resource allocation with sales objectives.

Required Skills

Specialized or Technical Knowledge and Skills:

Bachelor's degree in business, sales, or related field required (advanced degree preferred).
Ohio Agent Major Lines license required.
At least 10 years of sales experience, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales goals.
Insurance industry certifications (e.g., CPCU, CIC) are highly desirable.
A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required or ten (10) years equivalent work experience.
