Position Overview
As a FEMA Civil Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in evaluating and recommending repair or replacement methods for disaster-damaged public infrastructure. Your technical expertise will guide recovery efforts and help communities rebuild stronger, more resilient systems.
Position Details
- Location: Various locations in South Carolina, Tennessee, & Georgia (TBD by FEMA).
- Pay Rate: $180,000 annually (based on 60 hrs/week) + $28,000 per diem (approx. daily M&IE).
- Classification: 1099 hourly contractor.
- Contract Length: One (1) year commitment with options to renew.
- Travel: All travel expenses covered, including flights, car rental, fuel, hotel accommodations, and daily per-diem allowance for meals.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate damaged public facilities (roads, bridges, utilities, and more) and recommend cost-effective repair or replacement solutions.
- Prepare and review cost estimates using industry-standard tools such as RS Means and FEMA’s Cost Estimating Format.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with FEMA regulations and guidelines.
- Support the development of resilient infrastructure by integrating hazard mitigation strategies.
Qualifications
- US Citizenship, and must be able to pass a Federal Background Check.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field with 5+ years of experience (professional registration preferred but not required), OR 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in reviewing construction drawings, change orders, and technical specifications for large commercial facilities.
- Familiarity with FEMA PA eligibility, policies, and regulations is a plus.
- Expertise in cost estimation tools and knowledge of road and bridge construction standards.
