Reports to: Director – Data & Analytics
The Data Engineer is a critical member of the team responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines and solutions that support our data-driven initiatives. You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders to ensure data is processed, transformed, and delivered in a way that enables actionable insights and decision-making.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Integration & Pipeline Development: Design, develop, and implement efficient data pipelines for extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL) large volumes of structured and unstructured data through Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, and custom Python scripts, ensuring efficient and reliable data processing.-
Technical Solution Design: Work closely with cross functional partners to design scalable and performant solutions to meet both operational and analytical data needs.

Coding: Develop and implement high quality, well documented code designed for efficiency in performance and maintenance

Data Visualization: Design and publish Power BI reporting to democratize access to information to key business leaders

Data Quality & Governance: Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of the data by implementing best practices for data validation, quality checks, and governance procedures.

Automation & Optimization: Automate routine tasks and processes where possible, optimizing the performance of existing data systems to ensure faster data processing and reduced operational overhead.

Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand data requirements and provide the necessary technical solutions for analysis and reporting.

Documentation & Best Practices: Maintain clear and concise documentation on code, architecture, and data flows. Establish and follow coding standards, version control, and testing procedures.

Troubleshooting & Support: Identify and resolve data issues related to performance, data integrity, and pipeline failures, providing ongoing support for data systems and services.

Innovation & Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies in data engineering, data processing, and cloud platforms, and bring innovative solutions to the team.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This role has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record in business accounting with the following background and experience:

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science or related field

3+ years experience in a role with similar responsibilities

Proficient in statistical tools and programming languages including SQL, DAX, and Python.

Hands on experience with data platforms such as Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Snowflake, and Power BI
-
Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex data structures

Proficient in PowerPoint and professional presentation creation, including visuals to clearly communicate information, and well-organized delivery of points to colleagues.

Excellent organizational, problem solving, critical/analytical thinking, written and oral communication, interpersonal and computer skills.

Thoroughness/Attention to detail

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) including the ability to communicate with colleagues at varying levels of company hierarchy, and at varying levels of proficiency with accounting concepts.

Strong team player, able to share information and coordinate processes with other departments.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Managing Microsoft Azure resources including SQL Server Databases, Virtual Machines, Data Factory, Blob Storage, Key Vault, Graph, Azure Open AI, and other resources.

Writing complex T-SQL queries and procedures used for data pipelines and analysis

Developing Python applications to Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) data from various sources including REST API, and ODBC queries.
