Stores Material HandlerLocation: Great Yarmouth
Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Goods & Materials Receiver to join our growing team. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our supply chain by accurately receiving, inspecting, and managing inventory. Main Responsibilities:- Accurately and promptly receive goods and materials from suppliers using company procedures and systems.
- Perform visual checks of received goods to ensure they match purchase orders, drawings, and specifications, and are of suitable quality. Seek support from Engineering when needed.
- Immediately inform the Supply Chain Manager of any inaccurate or unacceptable deliveries.
- Ensure stock is kept in the correct locations and in suitable condition, while conducting regular stock counts.
- Pick, issue, and allocate parts, materials, and consumables to employees, jobs, and projects as required, maintaining accurate records of stock movements.
- Handle manifest and delivery advice notes accurately to facilitate stock transactions and movements between locations.
- Support the Supply Chain Manager in identifying, ordering, and replenishing parts and materials.
- Communicate any store issues to the Supply Chain Manager and/or Production Manager as appropriate.
- Keep stores clean, tidy, organized, and control access to the stores area by other staff members at all times.
- Load and unload deliveries (with and without a forklift truck) and accurately account for items.
- Drive company vehicles to make deliveries and collections to and from other parts of the group, suppliers, and customers, ensuring routes are fuel and time-efficient.
- Run company-related errands as required.
- Remain flexible within your work environment, working in other areas of the business that fit within your skill sets as requested by your line manager.
- Adhere to company-wide policies and procedures wherever and whenever appropriate.
- Work professionally at all times, regardless of the task, and proactively promote a positive image for the department.
Desired Qualifications and Educational Requirements:- Good levels of numeracy and literacy (GCSE grade C / 4 or equivalent)
- Current UK Driving License or a license valid within the UK
- Forklift License (beneficial but not essential, as training will be provided)
Job Knowledge and Experience:- Previous experience within a warehouse, goods receiving, or stock control environment
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office packages
- Experience with stock control systems and databases
Personal Skills / Competencies:- Attention to detail to spot inaccuracies and poor quality in all incoming and outgoing shipment items
- Data entry skills for entering information into digital systems
- Physical stamina to carry out manual handling tasks, be on your feet for prolonged periods, and maneuver stock on and off shelving
- Good computer literacy to enter information into digital systems and work with Microsoft programs and other software
- Good verbal and written communication skills to create inventory reports, direct shipment placement, and liaise with other staff members and external contacts
- Organized, with good communication skills and the ability to form positive working relationships with colleagues and external suppliers
