Position Overview:
Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) certification is required.
We seek a highly qualified Geotechnical Instrumentation Engineer for a full-time, on-site position in the southeastern United States. This role requires a long-term commitment to relocation for the next two to three years. The successful candidate will manage geotechnical instrumentation activities, including manual readings, data management, and the preparation of detailed weekly and monthly reports for the client. Additionally, this role will involve interfacing with clients for training on software systems, supervising fieldwork, including drilling operations, and compiling detailed reports and boring logs.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management
- Manage the full project lifecycle, including scope, schedule, and budget, while maintaining effective communication with clients and ensuring timely invoicing and reporting.
- Lead client meetings, scope development discussions, and technical consultations, ensuring clarity and alignment on project objectives.
- Prepare project proposals, including detailed budgeting and resource planning.
- Oversee all phases of project execution, from initial scoping to final closeout, ensuring adherence to contract terms and deliverables.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety protocols and quality control standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor financial performance, ensuring alignment with approved project budgets and objectives.
- Collaborate with other project managers to optimize scheduling, analysis, and the application of best practices across projects.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff, promoting their professional development and ensuring quality output.
Geotechnical Instrumentation
- Lead the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of automated geotechnical instrumentation systems.
- Supervise the collection, interpretation, and presentation of data using specialized software, ensuring accuracy and clarity in reporting.
- Coordinate daily operations and workflows with contractors and clients, ensuring that project objectives are met on time and within scope.
- Support the planning, design, estimation, and management of geotechnical projects across various phases of development.
- Provide expert instrumentation services on construction projects involving earthworks, dams, deep foundations, excavation support, and pipeline systems.
Project Engineering
- Maintain daily communication with contractors and clients, providing updates on project progress and addressing any issues or challenges as they arise. Prepare and review detailed instrumentation data reports, technical drawings, and specifications, ensuring they meet project requirements.
- Participate in weekly project meetings to provide status updates and address technical concerns related to instrumentation.
- Conduct field visits to monitor project execution and verify that all work complies with contract specifications and engineering standards.
- Develop and maintain quality control documentation during both the design and field phases of engineering projects.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure the efficient delivery of project milestones, while adhering to company safety and quality standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and ensure accountability while operating in an on-site environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, contractors, and internal team members.
- Proficiency in geotechnical instrumentation software, including experience with data management, interpretation, and presentation.
- Demonstrated expertise in the selection, installation, and maintenance of geotechnical instrumentation systems.

Qualifications:
- A minimum of seven years of experience in geotechnical or hydraulic structures engineering.
- At least five years of direct experience with geotechnical instrumentation.
- A minimum of five years of experience in data analysis and interpretation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) certification is required.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary Range: $75,000 - $110,000 (commensurate with experience)
