This role is a HYBRID position requiring frequent on-site work. Must be within a commutable distance.Epic certification preferred; if not certified, must become Epic certified within 3 weeks of completing the mandatory Epic training sessions.Must be available to travel for Epic training beginning the week of 3/31/2025. Education and Experience Requirements:- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field or higher is preferred.
- 5 years of demonstrated experience working with Epic systems or similar EHR platforms preferably in interface analysis or a related field.
- High School diploma with 7 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree.
- Epic Bridges Certification preferred.
Primary Function:The primary function of the Bridges Interface Engineer role is to design, lead and manage the implementation and support of assigned interfaces. This includes leading analysis sessions to identify business needs, overseeing and creating technical designs, and managing issue triage necessary to implement and support these interfaces across the healthcare organization. The role involves collaborating and coordinating with interface project managers, application teams, and technical teams to ensure that interfaces meet the needs of end users.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:- Design, lead, and manage the entire implementation cycle of interfaces, web services, and industry-standard APIs (such as FHIR), including analysis, design, specification, implementation, go-live, and support.
- Coordinate and collaborate with application teams, subject matter experts, and third-party application experts to determine business needs, document requirements, and configure interfaces per the requirements. Partner with these groups to diagnose and resolve interface-related issues and support ongoing application projects as needed.
- Troubleshoot and design system interfaces. Recommend and implement creative HL7 solutions to meet complex workflow needs.
- Remains up to date on industry standards and recommendations for system to system communications. Adheres to industry and ChristianaCare best practices. Analyze, review, triage, and resolve day-to-day interface errors, including coordinating with technical teams, application teams, and third-party system representatives as necessary.
- Identify and analyze risks associated with technical project tasks and third-party systems; escalate as needed,.
- Lead the coordination of interface-specific tasks and activities like testing, build, cutover planning, and go-live by engaging subject matter experts, vendors, server and networking teams, Epic Client System Administrators, and interface engine developers.
- Collaborate with interface engine developers to develop data-translation strategies to support the needs of Epic and third-party systems.
- Oversee and provide proactive support by monitoring live interfaces and collaborating with experts to resolve issues. Serve as the main point of contact for technical issues and general questions related to assigned applications
- Collaborate with Epic to implement new projects (such as a new module)
- Lead and manage upgrades of assigned applications with Epic by setting timelines, maintaining continuous communication, and addressing issues
- Analyze and communicate the impact of issues
- Build relationships with end users and providing consistent support through day-to-day communication
- Communicate problem status and solutions to end users
- Lead training and support to end users.
- Development of quality interface documentation to maximize supportability
- Oversee the development and execution of comprehensive test plans.
