STRUCTURAL BUILDING SYSTEMS ENGINEER (BSE) II Those in this role are responsible for the design of building systems for projects across our practice areas, elevating their capabilities and creating a more sustainable world in the process. The Structural BSE II participates in early design phases as well as the production of all plans and specifications associated with that design; this position also actively participates in construction phase services. Reporting to a Senior Engineer or Project Manager, you contribute to projects that are moderate in size and complexity.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE - Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
- A minimum of eight (8) years of structural engineering experience
- AutoCAD/Revit experience required
- Design program experience such as Enercalc, RISA, Bentley Structural System or equivalent required
- Professional Licensure
- Ability to interact effectively across organizational boundaries to achieve goals and meet deadlines
- Engineering and analytical skills with attention to detail
CORE DUTIES - Conduct code research in support of project development
- Research and apply current technology and stay abreast of new and upcoming technologies
- Analyzes reports, drawings, etc. to plan and design a project.
- Execute design calculations and quantity/cost estimates for buildings.
- Develop and prepare project specifications for structural building projects.
- Research code issues and develop educated strategies to satisfy code requirements.
- Provide oversight and training to Structural CAD Technicians
- Perform field inspections, measurements, calculations, and provide documentation.
- Prepare fee proposals and design reports for structural consulting projects.
- Make project site visits to document existing systems and gather existing owner documentation
- Complete construction phase services, including submittal reviews and punch lists
- Utilize computer-assisted design software to prepare preliminary drawings

The rate for this position generally ranges between 88K-133K $annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the New York Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful New York applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in New York or perform the position from New York. Similar positions located outside of New York will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by New York Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employees already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee's pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
