Summary
The Safety Manager/Supervisor at Austin Engineering, USA Inc. is responsible for establishing and maintaining a safe work environment for all employees, contract workers, and visitors. This leadership role involves overseeing compliance with safety regulations, maintaining accurate records, developing robust policies and procedures, and delivering comprehensive safety education and training. The Safety Manager is expected to provide strong leadership and guidance to support the organization’s safety culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Lead the identification and mitigation of potential safety hazards and risks. Promptly address employee safety concerns by collaborating with Plant Managers, Supervisors, and Leads to develop and implement effective solutions.
• Develop, implement, and manage safety policies, procedures, programs, and guidelines, ensuring full compliance with governmental rules and regulations.
• Oversee investigations of accidents, incidents, and near-miss events to determine root causes, implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence, and ensure all documentation and reporting are complete.
• Deliver safety orientation programs for new hires and contract employees.
• Design, develop, and conduct safety education and training sessions, including presentations and documentation management.
• Create and manage schedules for safety team members and ensure all safety-related tasks are completed efficiently and on time.
• Delegate workload effectively and ensure team productivity and performance standards are met.
• Approve weekly timecards and handle time-off requests.
• Collaborate with HR regarding worker’s compensation and related matters.
Requirements:
• Proven leadership skills with a track record of managing safety teams.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in a production or construction environment.
• Knowledge of welding and fabrication is preferred.
• Bilingual capabilities are a plus.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, nights, and weekends.
• Prior experience in a Safety Coordinator or similar role is preferred.
• Comprehensive understanding of OSHA, Wyoming Worker’s Compensation, and other relevant governmental agencies’ reporting requirements and regulations.
• Accountability for performing all job duties in environmental conditions specific to the work site.
• Responsible for completing and submitting all safety compliance work and reports to the head office in a timely manner.
