Structural Engineer - Maintenance & Operations- A/E- School Facility COMPENSATION & BENEFITS- Salary Range: $145,800 - $150,800 annually

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARYKKCS is seeking a
Structural Engineer to support
Maintenance & Operations for
school facilities projects. The ideal candidate will provide structural engineering expertise, evaluate and review plans, and offer technical guidance to architects, engineers, and construction teams. This role ensures structural integrity, safety, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations across various educational facility projects. The position is full-time, contract, W2, and onsite in Los Angeles, CA.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical recommendations and consult with commissioned architects and structural engineers.
- Offer technical direction to lower-level staff within the Structural Engineering Unit.
- Evaluate plans and specifications submitted by commissioned or consulting structural engineers.
- Assist in the development of District structural engineering policies and guidelines.
- Conduct structural investigations and reports for various structural components and installations.
- Assign material testing and inspections to laboratories and review test reports for quality compliance.
- Examine soil test results and provide recommendations regarding structural foundations and construction.
- Submit provisions for commissioning by incorporating structural recommendations.
- Support in planning and maintaining structural engineering guidelines for school facilities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsRequired Experience:- Minimum 5 years of full-time, paid professional experience managing the structural aspects of commercial, public, or educational facility construction projects.
Required Education & Certifications:- Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university, preferably in Structural Engineering with coursework in management.
- Valid Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in Structural Engineering issued by the California State Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers (must remain valid during employment).
- Equivalent education may be waived with extensive relevant experience and a valid Structural Engineer registration.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience working with school facility projects, including maintenance and operations.
- Strong knowledge of California building codes, seismic requirements, and education facility standards.
- Proficiency in structural design software and engineering tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
