A period of technical upskilling could take place at various wind farms within the SGRE Fleet. During the operational phase of Coastal Virginia Commercial Project (176 x SG14-222 Direct Drive turbines) this person will then assume a shift pattern living and working offshore (e.g., 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off).
- This position requires you to carry out all the duties associated with the service, maintenance, and repair of Siemens Gamesa Direct Drive Wind Turbines. This role must ensure world class service is performed while driving a high First Time Fix Rate and Availability.
- We are looking for individuals at varied skill levels. Previous experience on a SGRE platform or equivalent from other OEMs is preferred but not required.
- We are now looking for experienced wind Technicians to join our site in Virginia Beach, VA.
- As an Offshore Service Technician, the ideal candidate will have the ability to diagnose and resolve problems as one's own and efficiently. They will provide excellent service to our customers, could work on complex systems in demanding environments, and participate in the development of new field procedures and best practices. Responsibilities:- Active safety leadership when onshore, on board the Service Operations Vessel (SOV), in the turbine and in the Wind Farm - ensuring correct reporting of incidents and accidents, near misses, and unsafe acts and conditions.
- Ensuring compliance with SGRE standards and U.S. legislation in relation to EHS, Quality and Service delivery.
- Responsible for offshore service, maintenance, and troubleshooting errors on wind turbines.
- Provide excellent service to our customers.
- Participate in the development of new improved field procedures and best practices.
- Extensive training and testing will be provided covering safety and technical job requirements.
- Physical requirements of the job include but not limited to: Ladder climbing minimum 250 steps, stair climbing, standing for long periods, walking, lifting, bending, twisting, work above shoulders, pushing, pulling, exposure to vibration, chemicals, confined spaces, and extreme weather conditions.
- Escalate technical issues to supporting engineering functions.
- Working safely and effectively in a team of at least 2 people.
- Be self-motivated, able to think quickly and address issues as they arise.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule is required, along with the ability to examine and resolve issues on one's own and efficiently.
Additional Tasks for the next 12 months:- Progressing through to Maintenance Technician and/or Troubleshooting Technician on the necessary turbine platform as per SGRE's Service Wind Technician Competency Framework.
- Perform any other operational tasks to assist the Coastal Virginia Pilot Project from our onshore facility.
- Support ramp-up activities of the Coastal Virginia Commercial Project and/or other Offshore/Onshore projects regionally and globally.
Required Knowledge/ Skills, Education, and Experience:- Physically and mentally able to work suspended from heights and in confined spaces.
- The candidate must demonstrate strong initiative and motivation to learn new technology and translate learning into personal success.
- Flexible travel schedule.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must meet body weight restrictions of 265 pounds or less as required by the safety regulations.
- Must be able to pass Offshore Medical.
- Must pass a physical administered by a medical practitioner to ensure ability to safely perform the job functions and meet the physical demands of the position.
- Must pass pre-hire background drug screening and extensive background checks for working under NERC/CIP.
- Driving is an essential function of the job and applicants must have a valid driver's license at the time of application with an acceptable driving record. Employees must maintain a valid license and acceptable driving record and may be subject to periodic DMV checks of their license.

Preferred Knowledge/ Skills, Education, and Experience: - Ideal candidate will have Direct Drive exposure, but full training will be given to high caliber candidates.
- An electrical and/or mechanical education would be preferable, but not essential. Open to candidates in near completion of technical degrees/certifications.
- Experienced working with a large range of contractors and customers.
- Experienced working with MS Office applications and preferably SAP, Monitoring Operations and Registration System (MORS), Advice to Site (ATS), Wind Hub or remote diagnostic tools would be an advantage.
- Must be flexible to work in shifts at the project location (e.g. 2 weeks on at sea & 2 weeks off) to be confirmed. During training and ramp up for site it may be required to work Monday to Friday with weekends off.
- This role requires the person to be based within a daily commutable distance from Norfolk, VA and Virginia Beach, relocation will be offered for suitable candidates.
