Saturn has an opportunity for a full time
Development & Evaluations Engineer based in the
Calgary, Alberta office. Reporting to the Manager of Development Engineering, the successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating acquisition opportunities within Saturn's core areas to strategically grow the company. The position will support the asset teams with assessing other growth opportunities such as land sales, farm-in's, swaps, and possible divestitures to high-grade the portfolio. The role will also assist with reserves & resource management and may be required to work in the corporate budget/forecast model (Val Nav). The position will be an
intermediate or senior role, depending on the experience & qualifications of the successful candidate.
Some specific duties, and responsibilities of the Development & Evaluations Engineer include, but are not limited to:
- Evaluate M&A opportunities and provide technical recommendations based on corporate strategy.
- Audit & update production forecasts, capital costs, OPEX, price decks, ARO and other metrics for target acquisitions.
- Analyze undeveloped inventory, build representative type curves, and plan development schedules.
- Identify & quantify optimization opportunities on acquisition targets.
- Monitor competitor activity and industry M&A to find value-add opportunities for Saturn.
- Collaborate with the asset team to identify & evaluate land sales, farm-in's and divestitures.
- Work with the BD Geologist to evaluate new plays & exploration opportunities.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to senior leadership including the C-suite.
- Build dashboards to assist with digesting data & presenting results.
- Support the due diligence process on any potential acquisition.
- Contribute to the annual reserves process by supporting internal & external stakeholders.
Candidates for this position will possess the following qualifications and competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- P.Eng. with APEGA or APEGS.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience, specifically with time spent in development/exploitation or with a reserves evaluator, including exposure to M+A evaluations.
- Experience with reserves & resource management.
- Cross-disciplinary E&P experience is considered an asset, with a good understanding of Production, Operations and Facilities.
- Knowledgeable in engineering economics, with commercial planning or corporate development experience considered an asset.
- Advanced Val Nav skills with strong abilities in GeoScout and PowerBI; experience in Mosaic is considered an asset.
- Proven record of being technology-enabled with the ability to improve & automate workflows.
- Data-driven individual with exceptional time-management skills that can excel in a fast-paced work environment.
