About this opportunity – Data Engineer
Description:
The Data Engineer at Balt is part of the Group Data division in the IT team and will provide data management solutions to support Balt’s growth, especially in the US. The Data Engineer will help architect, build, and optimize the data solutions for various business departments and help educate the business on how to apply/leverage their data.
Job Responsibilities:
- Data collection and processing:
- Gather requirements from various departments and identify necessary sources of data.
- Plan a scalable architecture to support rapid growth in the US, accommodating new topics or solutions.
- Implement technical solutions for data collection, transformation, storage, and display, in accordance with the defined architecture at the Group Data level.
- Establish automated processes and ensure proper monitoring and operation of these processes.
- Data quality and governance:
- Participate in defining and implementing the Group's data management strategy
- Promote this strategy to our internal customers in the US
- Define the development platforms and tools to support this strategy
- Manage data lifecycle in accordance with defined policies
- Industrialize and automate data cleansing
- Support Key Users in using the data provided
- Implement and monitor safety rules for data exposure
- Daily-run activities:
- Support and manage external service providers
- Maintain the Group's data environment in operational condition: ETL, Data Lake, MDM, etc.
- Stay informed about industry and technology advancements in the data field.
- Write technical specifications as needed
- Present the status of ongoing actions to the IT team, users or the Data Management Committee.
Qualification Requirements:
Skills:
- 5+ Years of development experience on Snowflake and Talend Cloud
- 5+ Years of development experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI
- 5+ Years of Expert-level SQL skills
- Strong communication skills – written, verbal, in-person, remotely
- Strong presentation skills – being able to explain technical concepts concisely and understandably
Pre-requisites / Job Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer performing technical work such as setting up workflows, managing repositories, managing data infrastructure
- Technical degree or equivalent certification (Degree in CS, or technical certifications)
- Experience working in medical device and/or manufacturing industries a plus
Physical Requirements:
Extended periods of sitting or speaking.
Light lifting.
Occasional international travel, mainly to Europe (expected 1-2 times annually)
Heavy computer use.
Must adhere to the company’s safety practices by performing work safely and in accordance with established standards.
Work Environment:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
