Contracts and Cost Control Engineer to join our
Liverpool Bay CCS team in
London. You will support the Work Package Manager in their capacity as Contract Holder, overseeing the daily management of assigned contracts. Your responsibilities will include ensuring that related costs are efficiently managed and controlled. Liaison with HQ functions is required, so proficiency in Italian is strongly preferred.
Main responsibilities:
- Support the Contract Holder in managing assigned contracts, including liaising with HQ.
- Assist in preparing contract documents, including review and editing.
- Prepare purchase requisitions.
- Prepare work orders/service orders and upload them in the SAP system if required.
- Verify service tickets.
- Expedite and inspect as appropriate.
- Manage day-to-day contracts, including formal communication with contractors and HQ.
- Review and check invoices for compliance with contract documents, often in Italian.
- Maintain an invoice and costs log, including Variation Order Proposals and Variation Orders.
- Support budget and forecast activities.
- Support the change management process.
- Provide overall specialist support to the Contract Holder, including liaising with the Procurement department for contract handover, claim management, variation orders, and updating procurement and contract plans.
- Track and follow up on variation order proposals.
- Track contractual communication and draft responses to letters.
- Ensure costs are properly managed and monitored, liaising with the Project Services team to provide insights for improvement and more efficient management.
- Execute cost controls accurately and timely.
- Review contractor's cost reports and prepare accurate and timely project cost reports.
- Verify cost performance against the plan and identify areas of potential budget overrun requiring corrective action.
- Assist in the preparation of various reports and documents as needed.
Skills and experience required:
- A university degree or educated to A levels with significant work experience.
- Strong preference for Italian speakers.
- Proficient in PC software, including Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Knowledge of SAP or similar systems is desirable.
- Good administration skills.
- Ability to write reports and information that conform to prescribed style and format.
- Ability to utilise AI tools to prepare content.
- Proficient personal computer skills, including email, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
- Ability to read and analyse documents.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to liaise with stakeholders.
- Understanding of ethics and protocol for various functions.
- Flexibility to work additional hours as needed.
- Ability to respond to enquiries, complaints and prioritise tasks.
- Problem-solving skills with practical solutions in varied situations.
- Ability to interpret instructions in various formats.
- Multitasking capability.
- Proactive, self-starter with minimal supervision.
