Our company is looking for a Customer Process Development Specialist. This is a broad position which will allow the successful candidate to learn and be involved in many aspects of an industrial manufacturing complex. Its an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Engineer, Chemist, or Materials Scientist who enjoys developing and executing project work to a successful conclusion.
In this role, the successful candidate would develop expertise on the unit operations carried out in the facility and seek to market those capabilities to outside companies. The business development process would include seeking qualified customers, assessment of incoming manufacturing requests, development of laboratory scale trial work, development of commercial scale process work. The role is expected to carry out the work on the lab and pilot scale and is responsible for delivering a technical package to the production team for commercial production. The technical details are normally assembled based on-site laboratory work and collaboration with customers.
Communication skills are critical as the work needs to be documented in a way to preserved the key technical aspects for reference in the future. In addition, periodic updates are required for internal use as well as for external customers. Ability to communicate with customers in a professional and respectful manner is required.
Project management skills are critical to the successful completion of the work. Resources form inside and outside the company are managed to achieve the result.
Secondary tasks are seeking improvement opportunities in the company's capability, support on capital projects, and support on EHS inititives.
The Customer Process Development Engineer will be responsible for all development equipment inluding pilot scale and analytical equipment and shall seek to upgrade teh site capabilities in this area.
The position would involve the following activities:
Business Development:
- Work with sales and marketing professionals to improve visibility of the company within the industry
- Seek new customers through established sales channels and past contacts including email, phone calls, trade shows, and referrals.
- Assess new opportunities as they are presented to the company with regard to operability, safety, and other manufacturing aspects.
- Must have demonstrated ability to coordinate project work across companies.
- Must have demonstrated ability to reach out to prospects or leads and introduce company to new clients
- Training will be provided to carry out internal aspects of the role including:
- Periodic laboratory work
- Scale-up work on pilot equipment
- Report preparation from laboratory work and plant trials
Candidates must have a technical Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or Materials Science and demonstrated ability to work with prospects and customers outside of their company. Must have demonstrated ability to drive or support process implementations, improvements, or laboratory scale-up work to a successful conclusion.
