Using engineering techniques, the Design Engineer I helps to design, maintain, or improve new or existing Fiber to the Home (FTTH) network designs playing play a key role in the planning and execution of Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant (ISP) Fiber designs. Conducts research and creates design proposals for projects. Establishes design briefs. Creates concepts, performance, and production criteria. Identifies and selects materials needed for production. Produces final hand drawings and specifications. Uses computer aided design (CAD) to design concepts.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
Typically requires a bachelor's degree and 1 or more years of experience. Performs work under direct supervision, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, sit – 6-8 hours daily
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
