Miwon Specialty Chemical Co. Ltd. is seeking a Full Time Chemical Process Engineer. Miwon produces and supplies raw materials for eco-friendly UV/EB curing systems that are utilized in a variety of applications, including inks for food packaging; special coatings for wood, plastic and metal; and in adhesives for DVD/Blu-ray discs and mobile phones. This position will be housed in Mixon’s 65,000-square-foot production facility that is located in Columbia, S.C. This is a full-time career opportunity that includes a generous benefits package.
Summary
To support our specialty chemical plant, in UV/EB curing materials, so that we can present the best solutions to our customers.
Essential Functions
- Live and promote a safe workstyle that clearly puts safety first.
- Investigating and troubleshooting plant/process problems, increasing output and yields.
- Monitor production, optimize workflows by creating Standard Work documents and procedures.
- Optimize production processes by implementing safe and productive upgrades.
- Monitor and optimize equipment performance to maximize safe production outputs.
- Become SME and process expert to ensure maximum production efficiency.
- Maintain safety and environmental issues, ensuring OSHA and SCDHEC compliance.
- Develop and implement safe work procedures for staff, and training systems to train and educate workers.
- Designing, planning and implementing the layout of manufacturing equipment to safely optimize production and decrease costs.
- Develop methods to minimize by-products and waste materials in environmentally responsible manner, and to create programs to educate workers.
- Provide day to day support to oversee the day-to-day operation of the processing plant.
- Collaborate close with the quality control and health and safety managers.
- Collaborate with technical staff and engineers from Korea location.
- Identify and coordinate contractors/vendors to design machinery and other equipment to optimize work processes.
- Assist in the establishment of timelines and budgets. Create and execute process improvement plans.
- Install, maintain, and inspect equipment and facilities. Recommend best maintenance practices to optimize production. Assist in proper safe LOTO to shut equipment down for maintenance and construction activities, and safe restarts.
- Supervising plant operations in collaboration with Production Manager.
- Learn our chemistry to improve plant operations.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelors or masters degree in chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
- 10+ years of plant experience in an industrial or chemical manufacturing setting.
- Desire to move into a Production Manager position.
- Experience in a batch or continuous chemical operation is preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of work hazards
- Good oral and written communication skills. Experience with persons speaking English as a second language.
- Attitude and Aptitude to succeed.
- Ability to think both strategically and functionally, being a proven problem solver.
- MS office suite, ERP system.
This role requires regular interaction with plant operations and involves exposure to chemicals and industrial environments.
Must be able to work outside in environmental conditions which at times include extreme heat or extreme cold. Must be able to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) without restriction and pass any medical examination associated with the use of said PPE.
The physical requirements include the following: Lift 50 pounds floor to waist, push and pull 50 pounds horizontally, carry 20 pounds while walking, climb stairs, climb ladders, extend arms through normal range of motion while standing and squatting.
