Senior Engineer
Job Summary
Seeking a skilled and motivated Mid-Senior Level Defense Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in defense engineering with expertise in technical drawings, CAD files, and cross-functional team collaboration. This role will be pivotal in supporting the development, testing, and refinement of cutting-edge defense systems, working closely with program management and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Interpret and create technical drawings, schematics, and CAD models for defense-related products.
- Collaborate with program management and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to ensure designs meet project objectives, timelines, and budgets.
- Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA) to create and modify detailed engineering drawings and designs.
- Assist in the development and execution of product roadmaps, milestones, and deliverables in coordination with program management teams.
- Review and validate engineering designs to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and project specifications.
- Lead or support design reviews, risk management sessions, and technical assessments as part of IPT activities.
- Work with program managers to identify project scope, resource requirements, and timelines, ensuring timely delivery of engineering milestones.
- Support the preparation of technical documentation, including specifications, reports, and design reviews.
- Actively participate in engineering change processes, tracking revisions, and ensuring that design changes are appropriately communicated and implemented.
- Assist in the integration, testing, and validation of defense systems and subsystems in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Participate in the evaluation of new materials, processes, and technologies to enhance product performance and innovation.
- Provide support to the program management team in identifying and mitigating risks, ensuring successful project execution.
- Ensure that all designs meet safety, reliability, and performance standards.
- Maintain organized records of design revisions and engineering documents.
- Experience working in a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams, including program management and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
- Knowledge of defense systems and components, with an understanding of lifecycle management.
- Ability to create and manage technical documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, and project plans.
- Familiarity with project management tools and processes, including schedule tracking, risk management, and milestone reporting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve design and integration issues.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with engineers, program managers, and stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing based on program goals and deadlines.
- Other projects and work as assigned by Management.
Qualifications:
- Candidates must be considered Lawful US Persons (US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident, or other protected status) under The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
- Candidates must be lawfully able and comfortable working around firearems and munitions.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or other relevant Engineering field) strongly preferred. Will consider other relevant degrees or significant defense industry experience.
- Must be willing to travel, both domestically and internationally.
- 3–5 years of experience in defense engineering, particularly with CAD design and working in integrated product teams.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, defense industry standards, and project management processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with program management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
- Familiarity with integrated defense system development and test programs.
- Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) or experience in leading engineering teams within an IPT structure.
- Knowledge of defense-specific regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., MIL-STD, ITAR).
Physical Demands & Abilities
- Regularly spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers
- Regularly move from sitting to standing positions effortlessly
- Occasional travel to suppliers and customers facilities.
