An Applications Engineer is a professional who plays a crucial role in the oil and gas industry. Their primary responsibility is to design, plan, and oversee the implementation of well completions, which are the final stages of drilling operations. They must ensure that wells are properly prepared for production or injection of fluids, maximizing their efficiency and productivity, while complying with safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for designing the optimal completion strategy for each well to determine the most suitable completion techniques, in open-hole, cased-hole, or multilateral completions.
- Select the appropriate tools, equipment, and materials required for the completion of operations.
- Work closely with clients, suppliers, and peers to ensure timely procurement of completion equipment, such as casing, tubing, packers, valves, downhole tools, etc.
- Create and update technical documentation such as Schematics, Torque and Drag Analysis, Running procedures, technical datasheets, Work order templates, root cause analysis, risk analysis, standard hookups drawings, etc.
- Review, and write reports and technical proposals for current and new technologies.
- Quality assurance and safety, ensuring engineering standards and best practices are adopted to mitigate potential hazards to personnel or the environment.
- Overview of new technologies and applications.
- Participating in technical forums to present and showcase Weatherford's WCT portfolio.
- Qualifications
Education: A bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field, master's degree in petroleum engineering or a similar discipline is a plus.
Technical knowledge: strong understanding of petroleum engineering principles, reservoir mechanics, wellbore design, and production optimization. Familiar with completion techniques, such as perforating, hydraulic fracturing, well stimulation, and artificial lift systems.
Industry experience: previous experience in the oil and gas industry is highly valuable, minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in drilling, completion, or production operations. Experience in completions design and execution is particularly desirable.
Software: proficiency in using industry-standard software for completions design i.e., WellPlan and NETool are essential. Prosper, WellCat, WellFlo and OneSync are a bonus.
Regulatory compliance: knowledge of applicable regulatory frameworks, safety standards and environmental regulations, must ensure that their designs and operations comply with industry regulations and best practices.
Project management: Strong project management skills, develop and execute project plans, manage budgets and resources, and coordinate with various stakeholders involved in completion operations.
Analytical and problem-solving skills: possess strong analytical skills to interpret reservoir data, identify production challenges, and devise solutions to optimize well performance. They should be capable of performing complex calculations, analyzing data trends, and troubleshooting completion issues.
Communication and teamwork: Effective communication skills are essential for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including drilling engineers, reservoir engineers, production engineers, and service contractors. He/she should be able to clearly communicate technical concepts, present findings, and work effectively in a team environment.
Safety mindset: Safety is of utmost importance in the oil and gas industry, adhere to safety protocols, and proactively identify and mitigate potential hazards associated with completion operations.
Continuous learning: The oil and gas industry is constantly evolving, he/she should demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning. Staying updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices is essential to excel in this role.
