Responsibilities Weatherford is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our facility in Wallingford, CT.
This is the senior level job. Technical expert, leading in the design of new/existing products and projects. Evaluates and optimizes solutions on products, parts, or processes for cost efficiency and reliability. Oversees the work of other design engineers. Works with other members of the engineering staff to ensure that projects/products are is completed in a timely manner. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others.
- Mechanical design and development of optical and electronic sensors, their packaging and associated hardware for permanent deployment in downhole oil and gas applications
- Take products through their entire life cycle: feasibility study, product design, lab test, field test, documentation, manufacturing transfer, manufacturing support and sustaining engineering
- Take responsibility for sustaining mechanical engineering of existing products
- Provide guidance, through FEA and other studies, for the operational performance and lifetime of various products in downhole conditions
Qualifications REQUIRED
- Degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or related field required
- 8+ years of related experienceExperience with 3D CAD software
- Must have experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis)
PREFERRED
- Master's degree preferred
- Experience with design of precision components
- Experience with material properties under extreme conditions (pressure, temperature, chemical)
- Experience designing in Autodesk Inventor/AutoCAD and or Creo Parametric
