Duties & Responsibilities
The Oceaneering Engineering Consultancy group provides technical leadership and expertise in the field of vibration engineering and to clients in the oil and gas and energy sectors. The Graduate Engineer will be a key member of the team, providing innovative solutions to complex problems and helping to ensure the safe and reliable operation of critical equipment.
The Graduate Engineer will work directly with senior engineering staff, mentors, peers, and other employees who will contribute to their career development through on-the-job, informal, and formal development.
The Graduate Engineer will help deliver projects, contributing to and support projects that will include:
• Site based measurement surveys of pipework, structures, and rotating equipment to assess risk of failure.
• Pipework vibration assessments in accordance with the Energy Institute guidelines including FIT and AIV
• Fatigue analysis and assessments to various industry codes including BS7608. BS7910 and API579
• FE modelling and analysis of structures and piping to assess vibration, stress, and dynamic behavior.
• Communicating effectively with clients and other engineers
• Prepare clear and concise technical reports and presentations.
Functions
ESSENTIAL
• Support technical delivery on routine and complex projects.
• Contribute to technical documents.
• Gain experience and competency to conduct vibration analysis and troubleshooting on rotating equipment, static equipment, pipework, and structures.
• Help to develop and implement vibration risk mitigation strategies.
• Become familiar with the latest technology and techniques and contribute to capability development for the company.
• Develop skills for performing risk assessments on plant to identify equipment that may be susceptible to excessive vibration.
• Assist Senior Engineers to provide technical advice and support to clients.
• Preparing technical reports and presentations.
NON-ESSENTIAL
• Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
• This position has NO direct supervisory responsibilities.
Reporting Relationship
• This position will initially report to local engineering or functional manager as applicable.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical or related engineering disciplines) from an accredited institution that can lead to getting chartered with the Engineering Council (UK)
• Exceptional verbal and written communication and organizational skills, time management, multitasking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are necessary.
DESIRED
• Master's degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical or related engineering disciplines) from an accredited institution that can lead to getting chartered with the Engineering Council (UK)
• Prior university internships in engineering
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Coursework, project work, or job experience that demonstrates an ability to think at a higher level and act systematically to identify problems, requirements, and solutions.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
• Ability to work with customers to understand needs and make sure our products meet their needs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, presenting findings, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of appropriate steps to analytical problem solving. Familiarity with data analysis software like Python (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-Learn, and Matplotlib) or MATLAB is desired.
• Ability to work in a team environment, remaining attentive to ideas, recognising responsibilities, and actively participating with others to accomplish assignments and achieve desired goals.
• Ability to establish and maintain project priorities.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, and collaborate with other engineers, technicians, and professionals.
• Seeks out new learning experiences. Willingness to continually update skills and knowledge to stay abreast of technological advancements in the field.

• Understanding of Mechanical engineering and the principles of dynamics.
• Familiarity with the types of equipment used in the upstream oil and gas industry, such as pipework, pressure vessels, and rotating machinery.
• Ability to analyse and interpret data. Problem-solving skills to identify, understand, and address potential fatigue failures.
• Familiarity with engineering software tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, Comsol etc.).
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and practices in the oil and gas industry. Understanding of risk assessment methodologies.
