ResponsibilitiesWeatherford is hiring a Quality Engineer for our West Hardy Road facility in Houston, TX.
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring timely and effective implementation of all company's policies, procedures, and standards involved in assuring the quality of manufactured products and customer satisfaction.
The Quality Engineer as the Site Quality Management Representative strives to ensure facility adhere to all applicable quality licenses, standards and certifications.
The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing and implementation of manufacturing quality improvement plans to drive manufacturing performance toward ZERO DEFECTS and ZERO QUALITY ESCAPES. In addition to striving for reduction of Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
A successful candidate will collaborate closely with functional areas such Production, Procurement, Mfg. Engineering, Sustaining Engineering, Product Lines and Geozones on a regular basis as well as present to internal teams plans and updates.
Roles & Responsibilities
SAFETY, SECURITY & COMPLIANCE

- Supervisors & Managers should demonstrate effective safety leadership for the health and safety arrangements of all subordinates and for any persons visiting them while on the Company premises
QUALITY
- Responsible for being familiar with the Company's Quality policies and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Weatherford's Management System
- Responsible for being up-to-date on changes impacting QMS, and licenses/certifications such addendum, errata, new editions, others.
- Maintains manufacturing product quality as immediate priority when working across all areas of the business and continually seeks areas for improvement
OPERATIONS
- Maintains site's Quality Management System, ensure site compliance with company quality standards and quality management certifications.
- Performs regular process audits in the fabrication/assy/manufacturing shops and in functional areas (procurement, planning, customer service) to ensure compliance with procedures/WIs/standards. Including supplier audits.
- Coordinates internal and external audits, lead process to address any findings.
- When required, develops QCP Plans to meet Customer contract requirements.
- Actively participate in contract reviews, PO statement of requirements, and others to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Monitors NCR and CPAR data for negative trends, conduct root cause analysis and drive implementation of corrective action and evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions.
- Oversee Document Control Activities.
- Development and implementation of Quality Improvement Plans to drive quality performance toward Zero Defects and Zero Quality Escapes as well as reduction of Cost of Quality (COQ).
- Develops and standardizes procedures, quality control plans, sampling plans, inspection test plans, work instructions, and quality template/forms. Identify, document, communicate and standardize best practices to reduce defects.
- Collects, analyzes and summarizes quality performance data in monthly quality report.
- Manages overall NCR process, including tracking, trending and reporting. Leads material review board, timely addresses non-conformance items in Q-lot and action on Engineering Change Notices (ECN)
- Assists in the implementation of quality related systems, process and tools. Continually improves systems and processes and relay to management team.
- Maintains TMDE program to ensure devices/instruments are timely calibrated as required by standards.
- Prepares inspection test reports as needed.
- Interprets Design Engineering data (including blueprints, Bills of Material, specifications), and customer requirements
- Identify and report any quality concerns and take immediate corrective action as required.
- Any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by Line Management within the timeframe specified in a safe and efficient manner to meet business requirements, provided the instruction is reasonable and you are capable and deemed competent to fulfil these.

- Maintains effective communications with all key stakeholders both internal and where appropriate external
- Supervisors & Managers should clearly communicate expectations, roles and responsibilities to their reports
FINANCIAL

- Costs incurred should be within approved budget, processed within agreed time frames & following the relevant financial policy and procedure

QualificationsExperience & Education
REQUIRED
- Bachelors Degree in Electronics Engineering
- +7 years of experience with ISO-9001 in electro/mechanical manufacturing site
- +7 years experience with regard to Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and respective components, fabrication processes, assembly build, testing and soldering processes (HMP, SN100C, SN96, SN63) based on IPC standards
- +7 years experience in vetting processes for PCB fab houses, CM assembly houses and vendor who specialize in obsolete semiconductors
- Knowledge IPC standards, Export Compliance standards, Hazardous Area classification standards (contained in NEC, IEC, ATEC, etc.)
- Technical Writing understanding how to create/write process documents for the above items.
- Experience with mechanical assembly process of downhole tools, understanding of technical assembly, final machined drawings and GD&T.
PREFERRED
- Certification in Electronics Manufacturing
- Certified IPC standards
- Certified ISO or APIQ1 Lead Auditor
- Certified Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt
