We are seeking a Lead Project Engineer (Pipeline Installation) to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis, either in Aberdeen, or London.
In this role, you will supervise a diverse team of installation engineers, coordinating various pipeline reel lay installation methods for global projects that are either ongoing or in the tendering process. You will ensure the efficient daily operations of the installation engineering team and provide regular updates on project engineering activities, technical issues, and resource management. As a Lead Engineer, you will also mentor other engineers on technical matters.
Your responsibilities include:
- Leading a team of method engineers from early client engagement through to offshore execution on reel lay assets.
- Serving as a technical reference for pipeline installation and assisting in selecting subcontractors.
- Creating installation method statements and procedures, supporting procurement activities, following up on subcontracts, proactively supporting HSEQ activities, and preparing and delivering technical presentations.
- Performing installation rigging calculations and rigging design.
- Assisting the Tendering department with feasibility studies, method statements, manhour estimates, schedule inputs, and costing support.
- Supporting the procurement, fabrication, and testing of installation aids.
- Overseeing your scope offshore on installation vessels.
Desired experience and qualifications:

- Degree in Engineering, Marine, Naval, Offshore Technology, Civil, Mechanical, or a related field.
- Extensive experience as a project engineer, primarily in the offshore energy industry.
- Significant experience with offshore pipeline installation methods, preferably using the reel lay method, but S-lay or J-lay methods are also relevant.
- Experience in guiding and leading engineering teams on project scopes.
- Strong communication skills, able to interact effectively with all levels of the business, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
