Position Summary
The primary role of the lead workshop technician is to carry out maintenance and refurbishment activities on ROV systems and/ or associated tooling packages in the Aberdeen workshop.
In addition to this, it is expected that the lead workshop technician will offer guidance to workshop technicians, operations planner and project teams if required.
Duties & Responsibilities
Functions
ESSENTIAL
• Carry out maintenance, (mobilization, demobilization, periodic and in-storage) and refurbishment activities on company/client owned equipment
• Ensure that all work is performed to conform to company operating and maintenance standards and in accordance with all current legislation
• Update equipment maintenance systems to record details of all repairs and maintenance of company owned equipment
• Liaise with onshore supervisor to ensure equipment, parts and consumables are available enabling a "clean to start" methodology
• Identify changes in work scope, potential impact on schedule and report to onshore supervisor
• Ensure that the Safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to in order to ensure a safe working environment
• Participate in daily toolbox talks for workshop group
• Conduct STOP audits on a regular basis
• Participate in incident investigations when required
• Lead the review and creation of Risk Assessments and JSEA
• Ensure Risk Assessments and JSEA library is up to date
• Ensure compliance with HSE requirements prior to starting and during operations i.e. COSHH, HAVS, PUWER and LOLER
• Provide guidance and mentoring to workshop personnel on QHSE/ 5S practices such as JSEA, Risk Assessments, COSHH and Pressure Testing best practice/s
• Development and implementation of 5S and QHSE improvements
• Provide cover for Onshore Supervisor during absence/leave
• Assist with any other duties as and when required
NON-ESSENTIAL
• If required, lead daily toolbox talk for workshop group
• If required, travel to client site, overseas or offshore locations to provide onsite technical support
• If required, attend project kick-off meetings to provide technical support
• If required, provide input to engineering and quality improvements
• If required, support the development of competency portfolios, providing guidance to technicians on timely completion and evidencing of competencies

Ensure that the Safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to so far as is reasonably practicable in order to ensure a safe working environment.
Other
Carry out work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems.
Perform the assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems on the Company.
Eliminate waste of whatever form, to suggest the use of more environmentally friendly substances and practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities
• This position has NO direct supervisory responsibilities

• Reports to the Onshore Supervisor
Qualifications
REQUIRED
• City Guilds, SVQ level 3 in Electronic, Electrical, Mechanical or Hydraulic Engineering
• Extensive knowledge of subsea equipment such as ROV systems, IWOCS, Workover Systems and Tooling packages
• Leadership skills and a proven ability to develop subordinates
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
• Demonstratable awareness of 5S and lean principles
• Extensive experience of "working with pressure" i.e. pressure testing, (hydro and pneumatic)/ function testing
• Working at heights experience
• Overhead crane certification
DESIRED
• HNC /HND in Electronic, Electrical or Mechanical or Hydraulic Engineering
• City and Guilds- Pressure Testing SCQF Level 6
• Knowledge of subsea XT controls and operations
• Knowledge of Manifold, Umbilical and Subsea XT installation operations
• Incident investigation
• 5S or Lean Champion
• IOSH- Managing safely
• Forklift Truck certification

Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this jo b, the employee may be working indoors or outdoors during the day and occasionally at night. Climatic and environmental conditions at the job site may include indoor and outdoor climate with various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment etc. This may include an offshore environment where vessel movements may have an effect.
The employee will be required to wear PPE at all times

The employee is required to stand; walk; handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities required by this job include hearing all ranges.
