THE ROLEThe Sr. Director, Enterprise Risk is a member of the Legal, Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management Senior Leadership Team and is responsible for leading and overseeing MFS' Enterprise Risk Management Program. The program includes the Vendor Management Program, Enterprise Risk Business Partners and the Insurance Program. Taking a global view, the position sets the strategic risk management vision for MFS and develops corporate risk management tools, practices, and policies to analyze, manage and report enterprise risks. Ensures the organization's risk management policies and strategies are in alignment the strategic and regulatory imperatives of the organization. Oversees all operational risk management activities at an enterprise level. Chairs or provides key inputs into the company's Enterprise Risk Management Committee and ensures alignment with organizational strategic objectives. A primary liaison with MFS' parent company Sun Life Financial.
WHAT YOU WILL DOAs Senior Director responsible for managing MFS' Enterprise Risk Management Program, principal responsibilities include the following:
* Identify and facilitate the process for development and communication of key risks impacting various MFS entities. Design relevant key risk indicators and evaluate their status as well as that of applicable management actions.
* Provide the MFS Management Committee, MFS Corporate Board, MFS Common Board, MFS Luxembourg Board and the MFS Funds' Boards with key risks reports, operational incident trending and analysis of new emerging industry issues, as appropriate.
* Provide independent and objective challenge on various firm-wide initiatives as it relates to risk identification and assessment.
* Manage the design and operating effectiveness of MFS Corporate, MFS Luxembourg Board and the MFS Funds' Board insurance programs and assess and identify opportunities to mitigate the enterprise-wide (firm, fund and legal entity) risk exposures and the underwriting of insurance policies within the MFS insurance program.
* Oversee and continue to enhance the MFS' vendor risk management program including vendor on-boarding and annual due diligence requirements.
* Working with the MFS Business units, oversee the annual Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) Process for each business process, including identification and oversight of fraud risk. Provide effective challenge during the RCSA process.
* Manage and evolve the MFS Model Risk Management Program.
* Partnering with the MFS Management Committee to develop and evolve the firm's Risk Appetite Statement.* Chair the Enterprise Risk Management Committee and co-chair the Error Resolution Committee. Participant in MFS supervisory and functional committees.
* Act as the principal liaison with the Corporate Chief Risk Officer of Sun Life to manage all risk related work deliverables due from the US and International operations to Sun Life, including monthly and quarterly risk related reporting.
* Keep current with emerging global risks and challenges and maintain communication to appropriate staff within MFS. Implement and monitor new risk management policies and procedures where necessary.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR* Bachelor's degree minimum or equivalent combination of education and experience in the investment management industry.
* Minimum of 15 plus years of audit, compliance, risk management or related experience. Strong risk management experience in financial services managing employees and operations across a large multi-national organization.
* Strong analytical, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
* Expert knowledge in risk management topics. Experience in risk analysis, investment advisory, mutual fund and ETF operations is preferred.
* Demonstrated leadership skills and be able to implement, execute, exemplify MFS' business culture with limited supervision.
* Robust project management and coordination skills and the ability to implement new processes across an organization.
* Solid management skills, including the ability to lead and motivate staff and provide meaningful and regular performance feedback.
* Ability to interface with various functions in a global matrix structure.
* Self-managed, self-motivated, and used to operating in a demanding, changing environment.
