This trade association consists of a diverse group of manufacturers, distributors, retailers, publishing companies, auto restorers, builders, restylers, car clubs, race teams and more. From performance products for street and race applications to accessories for late-model automobiles and light-duty trucks, SEMA-member companies contribute to the vitality and strength of a $42-billion-a-year retail industry.
SEMA is a non-profit association which behaves like a business. Its mission is to help its individual and business membership base succeed and prosper. Its members are the producers and marketers of specialty automotive products for cars, trucks and SUVs.
SEMA helps its members make smarter business decisions; save money through group buying power; and network with key businesses in the industry.
In addition to numerous member benefit programs, SEMA plays an active role in convening the industry through a variety of world class events. Each fall the SEMA Show is the industry’s largest (and in fact one of the world’s largest) trade shows, bringing together every segment of the automotive industry, from hot-rods and off-roads, to mobile electronics and collision repair. With more than 2,000 exhibiting companies and attendees from all over the world, the SEMA Show is where the hottest, newest automotive products debut.
Vice President, Relations & Volunteer Management
PURPOSE
Oversight and management responsibilities for all Council and Network staff and related activities and programs to ensure that all goals and directives are met.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY
1.Works with staff to create, monitor and achieve annual department goals and priorities.
2.Ensures that membership retention and benefits delivered are maintained as the departments and association’s highest priorities.
3.Directs and supervises all Council and Staff, functions and programs.
4.Supervise and train the Council and Membership staff toward excellence in association management and attainment of individual, department and organization goals.
5.Work directly with Council staff and leaders to develop their skills and knowledge to best work with and support the association’s volunteer leadership.
6.Facilitate communication and collaboration between Council and Board leadership to further the Council, Board and association strategic priorities.
7.Develop and implement a plan for continuing education and professional development of Council and Network staff in association management.
8.Develop and adhere to annual operating budget for Network and Councils Departments. Review monthly financial reports to maintain budget controls.
9.Work with the President on facilitating the annual Strategic Planning effort for the SEMA Board.
10.Serve as the liaison to and project manager for the Council Leadership, which includes, but is not limited to, quarterly Council Leadership meetings and annual Leadership Summit.
11.Schedule, coordinate and develop the presentation for the SEMA Annual Meeting.
12.When directed by the President & CEO, perform other assignments and duties as required.
RELATIONSHIPS
1.TBD.
2.Serves as liaison with SEMA Council-Board Leadership Committee.
3.Interfaces with Vice Presidents/Directors/employees/Council leadership/Board of Directors.
4.Interfaces with the Association members and prospective members.
5.Interfaces with the facilitators and providers of development programs for volunteer leaders and staff.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
1.Excellent written and oral communication skills with proven public speaking and managerial skills.
2.Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
3.Bachelor’s degree in management or related discipline or an equivalent number of years of direct related experience (8-10 years).
4.Ten to fifteen years of experience in a trade association management position involving membership recruitment and retention, volunteer engagement and facilitating chapters, subsidiary associations or councils.
5.CAE (Certified Association Executive) designation, or progress toward designation is preferred.
6.Knowledge of the automotive aftermarket and its specialty segments is a plus.

Salary Range: This position's estimated annual base salary is $210,000.00 - $245,000.00. Actual base salary will be dependent on individual’s skills, qualifications, and experience. This role is eligible for 401k Savings plan, Healthcare (medical, dental and vision), and other generous rewards.
