Wespath, recognized as a 2017-2024 Chicago’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For® and a 2018-2023 National Best and Brightest Companies to Work For®, has an opportunity for a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) Architect who will lead the evolution of our testing strategies and frameworks. As an integral part of our technical leadership team, the SDET Architect will be responsible for crafting and implementing cutting-edge testing architectures, ensuring the reliability and scalability of our software products. This role requires a strategic visionary with a deep understanding of testing methodologies and a proven track record in architecting robust and maintainable testing frameworks.
More specifically, as the SDET Architect you will:
Implement a test automation architecture by evaluating and developing a framework for functional, integration, performance, and security testing. Ensure frameworks support maintainability, reusability, and adaptability to evolving project requirements. Integrate and maintain different testing stages into CI/CD pipelines. Troubleshoot issues that team members are having with various testing tools and support systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deeply understand project requirements. Integrate testing strategies seamlessly into the software development lifecycle. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the testing team of 3-5 QA Automation Engineers / SDETs. Help identify gaps in test coverage and develop quality test code to fill such gaps. Participates in code reviews and identifies opportunities to improve earlier in the process. Define and implement strategies for effective test data management. Ensure realistic and comprehensive testing scenarios through thoughtful data planning Analyze and interpret performance testing results to guide optimization efforts. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for testing architectures, frameworks, and processes. Researching and implementing tools that can be leveraged to improve quality. Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.7+ years of experience as a QA Automation Engineer, Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), or similar test automation role.Experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Cucumber, SpecFlow, Cypress, etc.Experience working with and integrating testing into CI/CD pipelines and software delivery, preferably with Azure DevOps.Expert programming skills in languages related to test automation frameworks such as Java, JavaScript, Python, or C#.Experience with performance testing tools and methodologies.Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, SAFE,
Scrum)Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with product/project management and design tools such as Jira, Confluence, Miro, and Figma.
