Brief Description:
The Draftsman will develop drawings, models and details and maintain 2D/3D database of company Drilling Rig components under the direction of the Drafting Manager. Drawings, Models and details will include structural, mechanical, and piping components. Develop 2D/3D library of parts, update existing 2D/3D rig components, and collaborate with Drafting and Engineering Manager, Special Projects, Rig Construction, and Operations personnel on rig component design and modifications. Work will extend to sketching existing components in field, rig yard, or supplier facilities, to new design development of rig components.
This position reports directly to the Drafting Manager.
Detailed Description:
• 2D Plot Plans for existing rig fleet
• 2D Site Plans for rig locations to verify rig arrangement
• 3D model and detailing
• Communicate with others on rig component development
• Develop and manage work load to meet required planning date
• Develop 3D standards and maintain 3D database
• Measuring existing equipment skids and capturing modifications
• All other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
• Must possess strong computer skills with ability to utilize Microsoft Office Software, e.g. MS
Word, Power Point, Projects, Excel etc., and other discipline specific-software applications to
drive efficiency in productivity
• Basic knowledge of structural steel, piping, and basic fabrication processes
• Familiar with Autodesk Inventor
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to engage with all levels of management, colleagues, and with individuals inside and
outside of the Company
• Ability to work effectively with others in a team-based environment to accomplish company
goals
• Self-motivated, flexible with workload
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work hard under pressure
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 year of Experience with AutoDesk AutoCAD utilizing Paper Space and Model Space
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with 3D modeling and detailing with AutoDesk Inventor software
• Associates in Engineering Design Graphics (Drafting), or similar field of study
• 5-10 years of Experience with AutoDesk AutoCAD utilizing Paper Space and Model Space
• 5-10 years of Experience with AutoDesk Inventor Professional
• 2-5 years of Experience with AutoDesk Vault Professional
• Experience in the oil and gas rig building industry
Additional Details:
This position requires the person to be able to work in a time sensitive, high visibility role and must be able to work closely with others. Ability to safely navigate work sites with occasional walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc., during normal operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather) and while utilizing designated personal protective equipment (PPE).
