Job DescriptionJOB SUMMARY Seeking a Design Engineer with the Reliability & Test Engineering team to lead and facilitate S&C's Design for Reliability processes for new product development and sustaining product engineering projects. A successful candidate will work with cross-functional project teams and will report to the Manager-Reliability & Test Engineering. The position is full-time, and all work takes place at our Chicago, IL campus.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: - Working with project team leadership to develop design for reliability plans.
- Setting up, conducting, and troubleshooting reliability tests.
- Collecting, evaluating, and reporting of reliability test results.
- Understanding and applying various statistical analysis methods appropriate to the product reliability space.
- Evaluating field data and generating new or adjusting existing test plans to recreate, or better understand, the root cause(s) of product malfunctions and recommending product design improvements.
- Working with S&C Electronics Technologists on printed circuit assemblies to support printed circuit assembly design changes.
To select this job as one of interest to you, at a minimum, you must have the following: - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer science with a preference in power systems and/or power electronics.
- A minimum of three years of hands-on experience in as an engineering role working with cross functional teams in an R&D environment.
- Ability to interact with test equipment manufacturers.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently toward timely completion of assigned tasks and desired goals.
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills for presenting, discussing, and documenting technical information.
- Ability to facilitate DfR process meetings with other engineers in the application and execution of DfR activities and tasks.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Demonstrated ability to independently draw conclusions from technical information.
- Adaptable and flexible: open to innovative ideas and able to respond to the latest information, workload changes, and/or updated priorities as they present themselves.
- Creative problem solver and solution developer when presented with conflicting requirements, business demands and technical risks/issues.
Relevant Work Experience: Three years of applied engineering experience working with product development teams. Hands on experience with HBK Prenscia ReliaSoft® is desired. Familiarity with environmental test chambers is a plus.
