With an apprenticeship of 2.5 years, we always have 3 cohorts in, which today amounts to 41 active apprenticeship contracts in Oceaneering. In total, the number of active apprenticeships in the ROV industry has increased from 10 in 2001 to 161 in 2024.
Duties & Responsibilities Our new Technical Instructor will have a thorough overlap with the current instructor to ensure quality and value for our future new hires/apprentices. As a technical instructor, you will be a central part of our training team, work closely with the training manager and contribute to further developing our teaching method.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Instruct in all aspects of electrical and hydraulic systems associated with Oceaneering remotely operated vehicles, complex subsea tooling, surface and subsea workover systems
- Mentor and assess students' ability to troubleshoot ROV control and associated systems
- Instruct theory of troubleshooting on fiber-optic components and test equipment
- Instruct theory of troubleshooting on hydraulic systems
- Instruct on proper operation and maintenance of analytical test equipment
- Instruct on basic ROV piloting to include the use of sub-sea navigational equipment
- Establish and maintain parts and supplies associated with all classrooms and hands on applications associated with instruction and curriculum development
- Troubleshoot and repair training aids and equipment
- Assists in the development and maintains course curriculum
- Participate in the implementation of half-yearly tests and subject tests
- Point of contact for schools, training offices and examination boards
- Participate in the recruitment process of new apprentices
Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities
Qualifications - ROV (FU-faget) Trade Certificate or equally relevant experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience as an ROV pilot
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics (Optional) - Knowledge of appropriate steps to analytical problem solving
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
