Summary
The Research Data Engineer is responsible for finding trends in data sets and developing algorithms to help make raw data more useful to the research enterprise. This role requires a significant set of technical skills, including a deep knowledge of SQL database design and multiple programming languages. Develops positive working relationships with co-workers. Shares knowledge and/or provides support for team members. Contributes to and promotes a positive and professional work environment/atmosphere. Responsibilities include:
- Develops and maintains scalable data pipelines and builds out new API integrations to support continuing increases in data volume and complexity.
- Collaborates with Parkview Business Intelligence team to improve data models that feed HSIR projects, increasing data accessibility and fostering data-driven decision making across the organization for select projects.
- Implements processes and systems to monitor data quality, ensuring final data sets are always accurate and available for key stakeholders that depend on it for their research.
- Documents work process to ensure redundancy.
- Performs data analysis required to troubleshoot data related issues and assists in the resolution of data issues.
- Presents outcomes of analyses in appropriate levels for intended audience(s)
- Works closely with all research team members to execute projects effectively and efficiently.
- Contributes to written contributions like manuscripts and reports.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Science, Mathematics, or a related field is required. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 3 years’ experience with software development. 4+ years of Python or Java development experience. 4+ years of SQL experience (No-SQL experience is a plus). 4+ years of experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling. Experience designing, building, and maintaining data processing systems. Experience developing front end for mobile app. Experience with Matlab.
Other Qualifications
Ability in managing and communicating data warehouse plans to internal clients. Proficient in object-oriented programming and software architecture.
