The Role:
As a Jr. Human Factors Engineer , you are in an entry-level position. In this role, you will work under the guidance of more senior team members and apply MTI’s user-centered research, analysis, design, and development process. Your primary focus will be on learning and applying human factors principles to assist in creating highly-effective solutions for complex, critical missions.
- Support the identification and evaluation of stakeholder requirements, program requirements, and compliance standards such as MIL-STD-1472 and -46855.

Assist in planning and conducting human factors events and analyses, such as stakeholder requirements discovery and definition, workflow and task analyses, compliance audits,usability studies, workload and situational awareness experiments, and user evaluation events.
- Analyze data to support design decisions and make design recommendations.

Actively engage in knowledge sharing and skill development within the team while building a rapport and collaborative working relationship with coworkers.

Collaborate with more experienced engineers and team members to support project objectives

Support the development of compliant and user-centric solutions that effectively meet mission needs.

Apply human factors engineering principles to optimize usability, cost, quality, safety, and performance while advocating for end users in collaboration with other professionals, including engineers, designers, managers, and/or customers.

Contribute to the development of documentation such as Human Engineering Design Approach Documents (HEDADs), Critical Task Analysis (CTA) reports, project briefings, human factors test results, etc.

Apply tools and standards such as MIL-STD-1472, NASA Task Load Index (TLX), Bedford Workload Scale, System Usability Scale (SUS), UI style guides, etc.

A bachelor's degree in Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Psychology, or a related field strongly preferred.

Master's Degree preferred.

No minimum experience required.

Basic verbal and written communication skills to convey technical topics such as usability findings and insights to colleagues.

A Basic understanding of human factors principles and usability testing methodologies.

A willingness to learn and adapt to new human factors methodologies, tools, and best practices.
