Description
The Software Engineer will support all seven Cardinal FG plants in developing, maintaining, and supporting software applications. This position will work in an office/plant environment, demonstrate a solid work ethic through diligent effort, availability, good decision-making, effective troubleshooting, and completing projects that improve software systems.
Job Responsibilities:
- Analyze business processes to create applications that support end-user needs
- Consult with all levels of the organization to gather requirements and develop plans
- Utilize a range of programming languages and skills to enhance existing tools or add features that support business needs
- Provide face-to-face, telephonic and/or email assistance to end users to help set up systems or resolve issues
- Provide remote assistance using VNC and RDP
- Maintain and develop required documentation
- Troubleshoot systems developed by the group as well as interfaces and other systems as needed
- Accept more challenging assignments as experience and knowledge allows
- Provide training to plants to allow more rapid response internally and assist in troubleshooting
Education/knowledge requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in software development, computer science, electrical engineering or related field
- Experience with Visual Studio
- Must understand object-oriented programming (OOP) methodologies and concepts
- Experience with C++, C#, SQL
- Understanding of multithreaded development.
- Able to work in web development
- Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ASP.NET
- Familiar with relational database technologies and tools including MS SQL
- Desirable to have some knowledge of PLC systems, automation, and robotics
Location and travel
- When not traveling, onsite at the office in Portage, Wisconsin
- Able to travel, at times with little notice.
- Anticipate travel around 30%, mostly on weekdays however some projects may require additional travel and weekends.
