We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Engineer within Aon Global Risk Consulting (AGRC). This is a remote opportunity.
What the day will look like
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our team. As a Data Engineer at Aon, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining our data architecture. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient data flow and contribute to the enhancement of our data infrastructure to support a wide variety of business solutions. We are looking at the best of breed integration & data management tools to achieve this .Most of these are cutting edge technologies (StreamSets, Amazon S3, Snowflake, Databricks, Power Automate)
Essential job functions

Develop, construct, test, and maintain data architectures (databases, large-scale processing systems, etc.).

Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements.

Optimize and troubleshoot data processes for improved efficiency.

Ensure data security, integrity, and availability.

Stay informed about emerging technologies and contribute innovative ideas.

Participate in strategic initiatives related to innovation and process improvements
Skills and experience that will lead to success
-
Proven 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or similar role
-
A background in software development, preferred.

Working knowledge with big data file format such as Avro, Parquet, and Optimized Row-Columnar (ORC), etc.

Strong awareness of Data Security, Data Governance and Data Operations processes, with an ability to deliver on these key non-functional requirements.

Experience in data integration (ETL/ELT) process design, development and testing

Ability to perform root cause analysis on data processes and pipelines to answer specific business question, solve issues and identify opportunities for improvement

Proficiency in documentation and presentations for IT and business consumption

Exceptional problem-solving and communication skills

A passion for working with large, structured and unstructured datasets
Education:
-
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field
Technical:
-
Experience in programming (SQL, Python, Scala) for automation and data processing.

Experience in programming Apache Spark solutions (PySpark, Scala) etc. will be a distinct advantage.

Pay Transparency Laws:
The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $90,000 to $150,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.
This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
