1. Job purpose
Co-Diagnostics Inc, (Co-Dx) is a Salt Lake City molecular diagnostics company committed to finding innovative diagnostic solutions to global health problems as we develop an at-home and point-of-care PCR test platform to detect viruses and other pathogens. The candidate will work with the mechanical design team in designing automated instruments to analyze and process biological samples.
2. Duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Develop and execute test plans to validate the performance of newly developed assay and instrument products by utilizing design for reliability tools and performance sensitivity analysis.
Develop processes for manufacturing IVD reagent test kits.
Organize and manage the schedule of testing to maximize throughput and utilization of lab equipment and personnel.
Create robust design solutions that address broad development problems involving IVD devices and accessories.
Support sustaining chemistry and engineering programs to support new and existing products to ensure sustainable and stable operations of production. Identify areas that require additional investigation.
Verify the functionality of product design by developing design test methodology and
specifications to ensure product designs meet applicable performance requirements.
Job site and regular attendance is required.
3. Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills, Certifications, etc.)
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Microbiology, or closely field
Experience:
2 years’ work experience in an R&D or test laboratory

Skills:
Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to exercise good laboratory practices.
Understanding of chemistry fundamentals.
4. Working conditions
May work a variety of shifts that include a traditional workday (8:00 am to 5:00 pm, etc.), a 9/8/80 schedule with every other Friday off, or other shifts as may be assigned.
Remote work is not available for this role.
5. Physical requirements
This job requires long periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
There will be stooping, bending, and twisting.
Based on the nature of the medical devices being manufactured, the ambient air temperature and/or humidity levels may fluctuate.
Must be able to lift 10-20 pounds on a regular basis.
Fine motor coordination with hand and finger dexterity.
Good visual acuity including color perception.
