The Contribution You’ll bring to this Role:
The Design Engineer performs design functions to develop new or redesign existing company products, including custom designs for each product value stream. Under broad direction, this role works from requirements or instructions to design and develop complex new components or redesign existing components to improve company products including determining and establishing specifications through engineering calculations and layouts. This Engineer will also oversee the assembly and tests of engineering prototypes and own MUV (Material Usage Variance) projects assigned.

What You’ll Do at Justrite:
- Prepares Research & Development requests and justifications and prepares design briefs including material and engineering requirements. Will be responsible for R & D of new product lines ideas.
- Works with marketing to develop specifications for new or redesigned products including innovation, chemical compatibility, ergonomics, look and feel, etc.
- Creates design prototypes using computer aided design tools and oversees preparations of procedures and materials necessary for the development of new products or redesign of existing products.
- Conducts rigorous usability tests and makes modifications based on test results.
- Writes and edits comprehensive technical instructions for machine operators and other users.
- Conducts a continuous search of new materials, processes, and procedures for new products to enhance and improve existing products with the following considerations: Chemical compatibility, FM and UL requirements, and manufacturing processes, i.e. fabrication, welding, powder coat, etc.
- Responsible for the care of a broad variety of materials and experimental products.
- Assists Marketing Department in Sales presentations, catalogs, and general advertising literature.
Your Skills and Expertise:
To ensure your success from day one in this role, Justrite requires the following qualifications at a minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant related work experience
- A minimum of three to five years of Manufacturing and related Engineering experience required in various Manufacturing Engineering functions.
- Proven experience working with Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Experience working in a team environment preferably with a small to medium size company.
- Experience with Solid Works or similar 3D CAD and ERP software. INFOR XA is a plus.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Proven experience implementing new product and processes with demonstrated leadership in project management.
- Proven experience in idea generation to reduce costs and improve quality.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to present data and information clearly to team and peers.
