The Thermal Acoustical Solutions segment offers a full line of innovative engineered products to assist in noise and heat abatement within the automotive and industrial markets. The business manufactures acoustical damping and thermal insulating solutions comprised of fiber and metal based composite product constructions. These products are typically found in the interior (dash insulators), underbody (wheel well, fuel tank, exhaust) and under hood (engine compartment) of passenger vehicles, heavy duty trucks, recreational vehicles as well as in other industrial applications. The segment employs approximately ~1400 employees with operations in the U.S., Germany, France and China.
Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide direction and mentoring in Lydech's Lean/Six Sigma principles to the business unit. This includes, but is not limited to running Kaizen events, teaching Lean principles, drafting project charters based on data-driven analysis on problem areas and providing technical assistance to manufacturing, quality, design engineering and maintenance to eliminate problems and drive continuous improvement related to the manufacture of product.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Acts as a change agent for leading and managing continuous improvement processes while instilling a culture of accountability.
- Lead problem-solving efforts to improve quality and eliminate waste in all areas throughout the Manufacturing areas. Instill a “hands-on” systematic approach to problem solving.
- Works collaboratively to drive continuous improvement and cost savings through application of Lean Manufacturing techniques such as 6S, SMED, Value Stream Analysis, Kanban, TPM in addition to facilitating Kaizen events.
- Assists in the design of new equipment layouts, setups and timing employing Lean and Six Sigma principles.
- Works closely with Focus Factory Manger to identify improvement projects and provide technical assistance as needed.
- Engage manufacturing team in continuous improvement process to ensure all projects are identified, prioritized, and implemented in a timely and effective manner.
- Develop Tactical Plan with plant’s process engineering, continuous improvement, and maintenance functions to support the Thermal/Acoustical Group’s Strategic Plan as outlined by the senior management team.
- Incorporate root cause analysis on various quality/engineering issues and verify that permanent corrective actions are implemented.
- Conducts studies on engineering proposals; assures initiatives are completed to meet safety, quality and cost goals.
- Performs on-going audits to ensure best practice implementation, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required for Consideration as a Candidate:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline.
- 3 years of continuous improvement experience in a manufacturing and/or industrial environment.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma-based continuous improvement methods.
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
- Ability to function within cross-functional teams.
- Must be a strong “trouble-shooter” with a working knowledge of hand-tools and maintenance practices.
- Well versed in MS Office.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
