As a member of the Data Science & Analytics team, the Data Scientist will engage in statistical and exploratory analysis of datasets such as medical devices data (e.g. insulin pumps and glucose sensors) and smart wearable devices, alongside patient contextual data, and use the insights to guide and inform business decision making and operational changes.
This role will partner effectively with multiple cross-functional internal stakeholders and product managers to identify business opportunities and product features, work with data engineers to define need for technology infrastructure, and implement CI/CD pipelines following best practices.

This position is onsite in Northridge, CA (Hybrid/3 days week)
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
- Well versed in exploratory and statistical analysis of large datasets using Python (including NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, SciPy, Anaconda)
- Experience with structured (SQL) databases and querying best practices
- Write and peer-review Python code, with an emphasis on efficiency and scalability, on code repositories using Git (GitHub and GitLab).
- Familiarity with cloud computing and storage technologies (Snowflake, Databricks, AWS)
- Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to gather needs and define requirements
- Have a high degree of initiative, self-motivation and curiosity; successfully work on projects in a deadline driven environment; possess strong engineering, analytical, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced team environment.
Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Math, or similar field
Nice to Have
- Robust and in-depth knowledge of Python, SQL, and/or other language used for analytics
- Proficiency with relational database technologies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; open to presenting information to cross functional audiences and leadership teams.
- Advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, systems engineering, mechanical engineering, or closely related field
- Experience writing production-level code
- Experience in a regulated environment, ideally within medical devices; medical data analytics (examples include data discovery, pattern recognition, machine learning and data modeling algorithms)
- Understanding of FDA regulations including (ISO) 13485
- Experience in CI/CD and DevOps practices
- Experience in key AWS services like S3, EC2, Lambda, CloudWatch, Sagemaker
- Experience in NoSQL technologies including graph, document, and key-value data storage technologies
- Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs)

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$95,200.00 - $142,800.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
