We are currently looking for a Senior Technician to join our service team based at Galloper Wind Farm based in Harwich, Essex, United Kingdom. You will be responsible to lead a team and carry out all the duties associated with the service, maintenance, and repair of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) wind turbine generators.
Your key role will be to deliver excellent service and yield performance while ensuring compliance with SGRE internal processes and procedures, UK Legislation, Environment, Health, Safety and Quality (EHS).
This role will require flexibility to work shifts (2 weeks on shift - 2 weeks off shift, subject to shift changes when required) leading and supporting teams on an ad hoc basis. This role requires the person to be based on site so you must live within commuting distance or be willing to relocate to the local area.
The role will provide you with a challenging and varied role, learning opportunities and a good team culture. The role will predominantly be based in the Operation & Maintenance (O&M) office, putting service technician teams to work safely in the wind farm and monitoring and maintaining Wind Turbine Generator remotely.
Some of your key tasks will include but not be limited to:- Active safety leadership when on the turbine and from the Operation & Maintenance(O&M) base - ensure correct reporting of incidents and accidents, near misses and unsafe acts and conditions
- Being responsible for the daily work process of service technician teams under a Safe System of Work
- Technical and safety documentation, production, and management
- Driving and developing Risk Assessments and Method Statements for work packages / tasks.
- Developing and delivering the technical and safety Toolbox Talk's
- Being technical lead for the management / delivery of technical queries with Service Technology, customer, and field staff
- Remote diagnosis of turbine faults and direct technical supervision of critical tasks as required
- Ensuring compliance with customer and contractual obligations whilst executing work packages / tasks whilst ensuring compliance with site rules and regulations
- Technician competency development and mentoring both for customer and SGRE technicians
- Maintaining efficient timescales for delivery of service activities, assisting in the creation of daily, weekly plans for site teams and in conjunction with Site Management/ Service Planner / Service Coordinator
What you need to make a difference Passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to lead the change. We are also looking for,
- Someone with prior experience of working as a technician, holding Maintenance Tech and Trouble Shooter qualifications on WTG platforms
- Having experience of working with a large range of contractors and customers, with demonstrable management experience is beneficial
- Having practical experience of working with MS Office and SAP, MORS (Monitoring Operations and Registration System), PowerBI, Proceedix and remote diagnostic tools will be preferred
- People management skills
- Experience of creating and reviewing RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements) and SSoW (Safe System of Work)
