Job Description
Nemours is seeking a VP, Chief Risk Officer to join our Nemours Children’s Health team in Florida or Delaware.
The Vice President, Chief Risk Officer (CRO) is a highly skilled and experienced executive with a strong background in developing and overseeing programs to manage risk in a healthcare environment. This position will also be responsible for management of complex litigation, including corporate litigation, class actions and professional liability claims. The CRO plays an integral role in the management of the insurance programs, ensuring a structure and coverage that appropriately addresses the organization’s exposures. This position also oversees Nemours enterprise risk management program, which includes risk identification, setting risk parameters, and creating the systems to address risk to enable Nemours to achieve its strategic objectives.
This role requires a strategic and independent thinker with exceptional legal expertise, high ethics and integrity, leadership abilities, effective communication skills, and a commitment to Nemours mission. This position reports to the General Counsel and works closely with finance and operations.
Essential Functions
1. Enterprise Risk Management (ERM): Leads and enhances Nemours comprehensive ERM program and risk management strategy aligned with Nemours goals and objectives.
2. Claims Management: Oversees and effectively manages all litigation matters involving the health system.
3. Insurance: Works in collaboration with finance to manage and optimize Nemours self-insurance programs and ensures adequate insurance coverage for the organization's exposures.
4. Leadership: Highly effective communicator with strong business acumen; able to handle sophisticated legal matters with minimal supervision, manage tight deadlines, and prioritize workload in a manner that best serves the organization.

Requirements
J.D. degree and active bar member of a state bar
Experience managing complex litigation; experience in healthcare environment required.
Experience with development and maintenance of various size, types and structures of insurance programs & understanding of various risk financing alternatives.
Has expertise with managing brokers and insurance program service providers.
Minimum of 15 years relevant experience with a mix of law firm and in house experience preferred.
