The Grid Modernization Specialist role is to provide subject matter expertise for the technical systems and teams that support electric system operations. The position is involved in the front-end analysis, reviewing and consulting with clients on as-is job responsibilities, on-the-job performance, work processes, and developing recommendations to improve performance through customized technical and training solutions. Grid Modernization Specialists work in an advisory role for our clients and internal team members to provide operations technology and GIS expertise and related business process and industry domain knowledge to support client projects.
Roles and Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Grid Modernization Specialist role are as follows:
Advisory/Consulting
- Partner with clients as a trusted advisor by providing industry domain experience to the client and help execute on a variety of projects which include:
- Business case development
- Strategic roadmap creation
- Program management
- Technology assessment
- Use case creation and requirements gathering
- Test case development and execution
- Control room application development and deployment
- Leverage operations technology or GIS expertise and experience to develop role-based job/task analysis deliverables for operations technology and GIS job positions.
- Provide industry expertise for the creation of future state 'To Be' business processes and derive the associated business outcomes.
- Perform and manage technical project work as required for grid modernization objective realization.
- Evaluate training content to ensure end-user needs are met, including maintenance of training database, tracking end-user performance.
- Maintain an understanding of advancements in technology and industry innovations which are happening in digitalization, analytics, security, markets, and operational technology within the electric grid marketspace.
Business Process
- Provide leadership/support of complex business transformation programs.
- Evaluate existing processes, analyze implemented changes, and recommend adjustments to workflows, schedules, or other processes, as needed.
- Lead multi-level client interviews and facilitate engagement across project stakeholders to gather information and help build support plans.
- Deliver lecture, group discussion, practice activities, and assessments in support of course objectives.
Collaboration
- Partner with clients to derive training requirements related to operations technology job processes.
- Promote training/line partnership by developing a professional rapport with clients.
- Partner consultants to design and develop training materials and continuing education for operations job roles, using a variety of instructional media.
- Collaborate on training delivery and support client training team to ensure that they meet training requirements.

Skills and Experience
- Experience in a technical support role for Electric System Operations or Electric System GIS.
- Experience developing, configuring, and supporting Control Room and ancillary applications such as EMS, SCADA, ADMS, OMS or GIS.
- Experience presenting electrical or operations training, experience creating simulation scenarios.
- Experience with Esri, ABB, OSI, GE, or Schneider Electric systems and tools.
- Excellent organizational skills with an ability to work on multiple projects.
- Demonstrated decision-making ability in production deadline-driven.
- Demonstrated ability to professionally interact with diverse groups on a wide range of technical matters.
- Demonstrated ability to stay current with changing technology and learning trends.
- Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills.

- Internal: Collaborate with team members for skill-sharing and problem-solving.
- External: Develop trustworthy relationships with client and project stakeholders. Ability to independently work in and effectively navigate through ambiguous and political client environments.
Education
Bachelor of Science degree in an electrical engineering, computer engineering or computer science discipline, or equivalent experience.

Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Mosaic strives to set salaries at, or near the 50th percentile (midpoint) of the range and it is not typical for candidates to be hired at or near the top of the range for the position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $150,000.00 to $200,000.00. This position is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus program of up to 8% of annual compensation. The bonus program is dependent on a variety of factors including organizational and individual performance.
