As a Junior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for flow of information between systems, the quality of that data, and exposing that data to deliver information and insight. The Junior Data Engineer oversees the data warehouse and related systems and ensures connectivity to keep systems operating at full capacity, develops solutions to deliver relevant data to systems and customers in a timely and secure manner.
How You Will Impact Education
Instruction/Education Responsibilities
- Facilitate the flow of information for students and staff between enrollment systems, student information systems, education applications, and other systems as needed
- Lead architect and design of data warehouse and availability environment
- Configure and administer environment
- Develop and optimize integration process flow and structures
- Securely expose relevant data for efficient data analysis, reporting, and dashboards
- Ensure connectivity between critical business systems
- Create ad hoc queries and reports
- Perform general data migration and ETL/ELT functions as needed
- Act as liaison between vendors and customers
- Participate in business system planning, evaluations, and recommendations to improve service
- Oversee change and release management processes
- Develop and establish necessary access controls and disaster prevention/recovery methods
- Oversee staff and third parties to accomplish goals and tasks as necessary
- Inform stakeholders of potential issues, solutions, and potential improvements
- Maintain documentation of procedures, processes, configurations, and contacts
- Follow defined access controls and disaster prevention/recovery methods
- Provide insight into data integrity and cleanliness
- Facilitate continuous improvement cycle through solution improvements, including product updates, plug-ins, configuration changes, and migration to other platforms as appropriate

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1-2 years of experience with SQL language and relational databases
- Experience with unstructured and non-relational databases a plus
- 1-2 years of DBA experience, including data architecture, design, and optimization
- Experience in database/application connectivity
- Strong knowledge of common statistics required
- May require travel both inside and outside of state
- May require need for occasional weekend or evening travel
- May perform other duties assigned.
