Overview:
The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, managing, optimizing, and monitoring data retrieval, storage, and distribution systems. This role focuses on the technical aspects and improvements of data integration tools, the enterprise data warehouse, data lake, and reporting tools.
**This can be located in either Meridian or Pocatello
Responsibilities:

Collaborate with team members and BI Data Engineers to transform data into valuable information for business decisions.

Architect, configure, analyze, and maintain data structures for BI analytics and reporting.

Ensure data sources are accurate, consistent, reliable, and secure.

Oversee the full lifecycle development, implementation, support, architecture, and tuning of the Enterprise Data Warehouse, including Data Models, Delta Live Tables, and ETL pipelines.

Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure processes across the organization.

Develop conceptual and logical data models.

Identify and implement internal process improvements, such as automating manual processes and optimizing data delivery.

Ensure data security and compliance with data governance standards.

Support the integration of enterprise application databases and real-time processing into the data warehouse.

Utilize technical skills in SQL, ELT/ETL development, data warehousing solutions, data modeling, data Lakehouse technologies, data architecture, and BI reporting development.

Work with technologies including Azure Data Lakehouse architecture, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, SQL Server, Power BI, Oracle database, and AI/ML.

Collaborate with external professional services and third-party vendors to understand systems and plan future enhancements.

Write technical policies, procedures, and documentation, including data flow and architecture diagrams.

Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of business intelligence reports and applications.

Focus on dimensional data model design, ETL/ELT frameworks, performance tuning, cost management, data processing, metadata management, operational data integration, master data management, data quality, data auditing, profiling, and BI reporting solutions.

Qualifications:
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or equivalent) is required. Certifications in Databricks, data analytics and/or data engineering a plus. Experience in a Data Engineering or similar role preferred.
Experience in:

Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and other relational and NoSQL databases.

Experience with SQL, ELT/ETL development, and business intelligence tools like Microsoft Power BI.

Proficient with source-code management tools such as GitHub.
-
Knowledge of programming languages such as Java, R, and Python is a plus.

Experience with data warehouses, Data Lakehouse Architecture, data modeling, and data pipelines preferred.

2+ years of experience in cloud computing with Azure, including Azure Databricks and Data Factory preferred.

Understanding of data processing, hardware platforms, and enterprise software applications.

Advocate of CI/CD methodologies and agile ways of working.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of Credit Union and member records.

Self-motivated with strong prioritization, deadline management, and adaptability skills.

Willingness to work occasionally outside of normal business hours.

Ability to work collaboratively with other department supervisors.

Ability to work under pressure and conflicting situations. Must be willing to comply with the Bank Secrecy Act and USA Patriot Act as implemented by Idaho Central Credit Union.
