Responsible for evaluating and improving plant performance in the areas of safety, quality, production output and operating cost. This is a hands-on position that involves performing research, conducting experiments and gathering data in a plant environment while leading action teams to drive results. There is opportunity to study current production processes, recommend improvements utilizing the Boise Improvement Cycle and gain exposure to multiple departments. Successful candidates will develop broad, comprehensive knowledge and experience of the overall business in a plant environment, including but not limited to: safety, manufacturing processes and products, supervision, human resources, process improvement, engineering, finance, special projects, etc. Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Wood Products, Forestry, Business, Engineering or related field required. This is a Developmental position designed to provide the individual with the opportunity for exposure to various facets of the business and to develop an in-depth understanding of the operations/function at the region and/or plant level.
Preferred Qualifications: Prefer degree in STEM related field and between 0-4 years of experience in related job function. The successful candidate will possess the ability to understand and apply mathematical calculations and concepts, computer skills in many types of applications and able to communicate effectively at all levels. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a plant environment, working with diverse teams and able to work a flexible schedule. Continuous manufacturing operation experience and knowledge of wood products recommended; knowledge of continuous improvement tools, facilitation, troubleshooting and process controls is a plus.
