Luminosity, Inc. is seeking a talented Data Engineer to contribute to our mission to advance pretrial justice through data analytics. As a vital member of our data analytics team, you will apply your SQL skills and knowledge of cloud technologies, data warehousing, and big data frameworks towards developing, implementing, and optimizing data pipelines and databases.

Responsibilities:
Design and Implement Data Pipelines – Support the creation of scalable, efficient, and reproducible data pipelines that facilitate the transformation and linkage of data across various justice system databases
Data Standardization and Integration
§ Participate in efforts to standardize, clean, and integrate disparate datasets from justice system sources
§ Utilize transformation techniques to merge and match datasets, improving data accessibility for analytics
SQL and Data Optimization
§ Develop SQL queries to efficiently join, filter, and aggregate data
§ With support and guidance, optimize data storage and retrieval processes across multiple platforms
Data Exploration and Database Management
§ Identify data sources and suggest enhancements to meet analytical needs
§ Support the management of database objects
Cross-Platform Scripting and Code Optimization
§ Adapt scripting methods for use across different database technologies
§ Conduct code reviews to identify and execute performance optimizations
Education and Experience:
§ Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field
§ Minimum of three years of proven experience in data integration
§ A related master’s degree can be substituted for two years of experience
Technical Skills:
Candidates for the Data Engineer position must possess proficiency in SQL programming skills and have familiarity with at least one technology in each of the following categories:
§ Cloud Platforms – Microsoft Azure (Azure), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
§ Cloud-based Data Warehousing Platforms – Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse / Azure Synapse Analytics, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery
§ Programming Languages – In addition to proficiency in SQL - Python, R, Java
§ Database Pipeline Solutions – SQL Server Integration Services, Azure Data Factory, AWS Data Pipeline, Apache Airflow, Stitch Data, Fivetran, Google Cloud Dataflow
§ Big Data Processing Frameworks and Workflow Orchestration Tools – Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, and Apache Airflow
Non-Technical Skills:
§ Analytical and problem-solving skills
§ Ability to communicate effectively
§ Aptitude to collaborate in a diverse team environment
§ Organizational skills and the ability to manage tasks
