Job Profile – Accounting Manager

THE COMPANY

Maxim Commercial Capital, LLC (“Maxim”) is a growing specialty finance company headquartered in West Los Angeles, CA. Maxim is focused on providing senior and subordinated financing of up to $3.0 million to small and lower middle-market businesses in all industries secured by equipment and real estate collateral nationally. Maxim has deep expertise and knowledge in heavy equipment financing including Class 6 – 8 trucks, trailers, vocational trucks, construction equipment, and agricultural equipment as well as real estate financing including multifamily, office, industrial, residential, retail, and infill land.

THE POSITION

The Accounting Manager reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and directly supervises 1 accounting and 1 finance staff member. Responsibilities include overseeing daily accounting operations, managing financial statement preparation with the CFO, bank reporting, financial and bank audits, operational improvement initiatives, and ad hoc reports. The Accounting Manager also works closely with other departments and is heavily involved in collaborative strategic decision making made by executive management. This individual relies on several years of experience as an Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant and is preferably on track to becoming a CPA. The role is on-site only, located in Brentwood.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage two accounting/finance department staff members.
Oversee daily accounting operations
Take primary ownership of monthly Financial Statements, with assistance from the CFO
Manage periodic accounting and bank audits.
Assist the CFO with bank relationships and reporting
Collaborate on financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting with the CFO.
Assist with internal reporting and ad hoc requests
Oversee process for preparation and recording journal entries for daily and month-end reporting, including closing journal entries from LeaseWorks lending platform to QuickBooks.
Prepare major account reconciliations and oversee reconciliation process with accounting staff.
Calculate and validate accruals.
Supervise audit tasks for external and internal audits.
Oversee issuance of 1099 forms using QuickBooks.
Ensure department’s compliance with company’s accounting policies and procedures.
Drive opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency in existing policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills:

Financial accounting

Proficient in QuickBooks
Strong organizational skills
Strong oral and written communication skills

Experience:

5+ years in Accounting departments, including promotion to Senior Accountant.

Education:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, or completion of equivalent coursework.
CPA license preferred or significant progress towards certification.

Salary range is $120K-$150k depending on qualifications. Significant room to grow in the position and company.
