Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Fire Protection Engineer to join our team. This role involves designing, implementing, and overseeing fire protection systems and safety measures to safeguard lives and property. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fire protection engineering principles, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other engineers, architects, and clients.

Responsibilities

In this role you will get to apply your engineering knowledge to support exciting projects
Plan, direct, and oversee engineering activities including project execution
Conduct Fire Protection Engineering inspection, studies, design, and calculations
Complete site surveys and identify code issues and offer compliant solutions
Perform interpretation and application of local, state, and federal requirements, and regulations, relative to all aspects of fire protection and life safety
Prepare and present technical audits, reports, and exhibits
Design fire suppression system, fire alarm systems, and prepare technical specifications
Ability to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills
Visits to construction sites as necessary
Approximately 10-40% travel per year
With minimal support, carrying out and reviewing Fire Protection Engineering calculations including smoke exhaust and evacuation analysis
Review/Create Architectural Life Safety Code Analysis based on IBC and NFPA 101
Review fire protection submittals (Shop Drawings for construction) for code compliance prior to submittal to the AHJ for permitting
Extracts engineering information from CAD drawings
Prepares engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs
Reviews supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
NICET Certification preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification preferred.
Proven experience in fire protection engineering or a related field.
Strong knowledge of fire protection codes, standards, and regulations.
Proficiency in fire protection design software and tools.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
