General Position Summary:Mason, Bruce, & Girard, Inc. (MB&G), a natural resource consulting firm headquartered in Portland, OR., is seeking an exceptionally self-motivated full-time Human Resources (HR) Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will oversee and implement MB&G's HR functions and strategy. Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities: Recruitment - Leads the MB&G recruitment process including advertising job postings, sourcing candidates, screening applicants, conducting preliminary interviews, coordinating hiring efforts with managers responsible for making the final selection of candidates, and onboarding. Experience in pro-active recruitment strategies (using LinkedIn Recruiter for example) highly preferred. Benefits - Works closely with outside agents to acquire and select annual benefit renewals. Leads the open enrollment process and is primary contact for benefit administration of all health and retirement plans. Assist employees with benefit related questions and problems. Administers company 401(k) plan. Employee Relations and Retention - Responsible for the continual strengthening of the employer-employee relationship through measuring job satisfaction, employee engagement and resolving workplace conflict through: o Managing the mid-year and annual performance review process. o Responding to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations, and civil rights complaints. o Conducting exit interviews and analyzing data to make recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement. o Administering employee satisfaction surveys. o Planning corporate social events including holiday parties, soccer games and picnics. Compensation - Works with management to set compensation structures and evaluate competitive pay practices appropriate to MB&G staff. Updates job descriptions and pay ranges on an ongoing basis. Safety - Leads MB&G safety committee, supports workplace safety training and field protocols, and maintains state and federally mandated logs for workplace injury. Works closely with outside HR benefits specialists to manage the company's workers compensation issues. Training and Development - Coordinates implementation of professional development opportunities for employees looking for promotional opportunities or employees who want to achieve personal goals such as obtaining professional certification. Provides other internal training to employees as needed. Compliance - Responsible for ensuring MB&G's compliance with labor and employment laws in all states (12+) in which the company has employees. Maintains awareness of federal and state employment laws such as Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the National Labor Relations Act as well as other related rules and regulations. Develops and maintains affirmative action program. Files EEO-1 annually. Develops, recommends and implements personnel policies and procedures. Maintains and updates policy manual as needed. Other Responsibilities: Represents the company for any unemployment claims. Recommends and implements employee recognition programs. Develops and manages HR related budgets. Promotes MB&G's corporate citizenship. Performs other duties as necessary.Supervisory Responsibility: This position is supervisory (currently .5 administrative employees). Interpersonal Contacts: Contacts are within the company, business contacts and with our clients.Physical Demands:Extensive computer use, physical ability to operate a telephone, and sit for extended periods of time, may lift/carry up to 20 pounds.Travel:Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected. Required Education and Experience: BA/BS in Human Resources, Business or related field. 4+ years of increasing responsible HR Generalist experience. Experience as sole HR professional in a services firm preferred. PHR preferred.
