Process Engineer - Anthropometric 3D Scanning and Data Processing
Job Responsibilities
This role is for a candidate who will support the development of efficient processes for 3D scanning and data processing of textiles and wearables. The Process Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing workflows to collect and analyze 3D scan data and communicate results to a broader XFN team. They will own the process from start to finish and be responsible for key equipment associated with the process.
Minimum Requirements
- M.S., Ph.D. or equivalent work experience in Human Factors, Ergonomics, Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Apparel Design, or similar
- Experience working with 3D scanning systems, such as Artec and 3dMD scanning systems (training will be available)
- Demonstrated ability to process 3D scanning information into meaningful insights
- Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and communicate large data sets to a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated ability to conduct statistical analysis (descriptive statistics, PCA, cluster analysis) on large datasets
- Ability to work quickly in a fast-paced work environment and proactively solve problems.
- Familiarity with data processing software and programming languages (e.g. Python, MATLAB)
Desired Qualifications:
- 1+ years of experience with computer-aided design (CAD) tools, such as Solidworks, NX, or equivalent
- 1+ years of experience developing automated analysis pipelines for 3D scan data using digital tools (e.g. Grasshopper)
- 2+ years of experience working in a research laboratory or industry setting on projects related to wearable devices or textile manufacturing
- Experience with strain measurement of materials using 3D scanning or digital image correlation
- Familiarity with 3D knitting, machine knitting, or other textile manufacturing techniques
- Familiarity with garment pattern making and garment construction
