The Department of Neurology has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Scientist/Engineer 1 to join their team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Animal model drug injections, tissue harvesting and processing
Imaging and molecular (DNA/RNA/Protein) analyses
Cloning plasmids, DNA sequencing, plasmid preps, keep logs and inventories of plasmid stocks.
Supervise and manage undergraduate student helpers, monitor their work
Assist with managing a mouse colony for the laboratory and ensure all animal subjects protocols are followed, including Animal husbandry, ordering, shipping and genotyping mice.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or scientific discipline or a related field and one year of relevant.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Some experience with molecular biology, antibody and histology techniques, graphics and imaging methods for data reporting
Able to read and explain scientific publications
Basic Molecular biology skills (DNA/RNA, cloning, PCR)
Experience with small lab animals (mice)
Maintaining databases
Experience with gene therapy vectors, especially AAV, preferably also lentiviral vectors.
